I noticed my poor mileage a while ago. since then I have tried...
:evilbat:
Replace air filter
cleaned the MAF
used a fuel cleaner (about 8 times)
replace the plugs
replaced the wires
Changed the oil (synthetic as always)
Changed the Tranny fluid
Replaced Dif fluid as well
Added Injen Sri
Replaced L CV axel (bad boot)
Got and Alignment
Properly inflated tires w/Nitrogen
Lowered car Eib Pro kit
Have had a professional fuel system cleaning
Replaced Fuel cap
Replaced fuel filter and line (oop’s, it was really soft)
:evilbat:

The exhaust smells a little rich, and very humid. I think I might have gotten some bad gas????
However, even w/good gas I’m lucky to get 22mpg. I had an idea! What if when I did my 90k tune up the timing was either accelerated or retarded? How do I check my timing, and A/F??? any ideas?

I am thinking it might be the cat. I don’t have any lights on, and
the ecu isn’t throwing any codes. It’s an automatic and I don't
drive it hard, just average daily driving. I used to get high 20s,
and the price of gas lately 16 mpg is a real big deal.
what kind of gas mileage are you guys getting in your 1mz fe 3.0 v6s, and
any ideas why my mpg’s are so low? :bday: ?

Have you tried cleaning you intake manifold and throttle body. Also you could try pulling th battery cables for a few minutes and let the ecu reset its self and then granny drive until it learns not to dump so much fuel in.

yeah, the ecu trick oughta do something. I was getting 18 mpgs, but I cleaned my intake manifold, throttle and my TRD filter and changed my oil with mobil one and my last 6.124 gallons got me 151.3 miles which averages out to be about 24 with mixed driving.

I think I will clean the throttle body, EGR and check the timing. Then I will also reset ECU.

It's just weird it drives fine but its using buckets of gas. I went to an ATM at lunch and used about an 1/8 tank it wasn't that far of a trip. I wish It would be a code or something. I hate going at this blind. This seems to be a recurring problem.

Is it possible when I got my 90k tune up. They advanced the timing by mistake, or would the ECU still catch that?

I'de try these one by one in this order.

1. replace fuel filter
2. reset ECU by disconnecting neg termnial for 15-20sec.
3. Clean TB
4. Clean intake manifold

why I say fuel filter first is the age of the car and you prob don't know when it was last changed.
