Talk about aftermarket Toyota Solara Gen 1-1.5 upgrades.

I am done rolling on 19"

I am done rolling on 19"

After about 8 months worth of headache$$$$, I have decided to give my 19" rims a rest.

19" rims are way too delicate for my area (SF/Bay Area). I drive 65 on the freeway and is very careful and alert to road conditions. I am very caucious. I have even memorized exactly where the pot holes are and can perform lightning quick lane changes to avoid new ones. In fact, pot holes hunting has become a hobby of mine. I am obssesed with them like a guy on crack. But still, no matter how careful I am, it happens. My rims are f*cked again.

Happens every other month seems like. Waiting for AAA isn't fun on the side of the road. Once they arrive, there's the towing drama associated with lowered cars. This is just driving me nuts. To top that off, wheel repair is about $250 and takes about a week. Thanks god for full size spare tire.

I have decided to get my old trusty, hub centric, 17" TRD Revos repaired and put back on. It's small but at least it will give me peace of mind.

Bye wheels!

have you tried getting a bigger series tire, like 225/40 or 45/19? Your pix looks like a 35 series tire.

yeah they are 235/35/19.

I'm not sure how 225 would look like. I not a big fan of the stretched look. Do they make 235/40 or 45/19?

yes they are. It's the 3-piece version. most of the time, I am not even sure how I bent them. Aren't these rims suppose to be forged?

I had a set of 17's along time ago and they always get bent even on small pot holes. I dunno why they just suck!! that was the worse Racing hart experiance I ever had. No matter what you do those rims will always bend

Yes they do - in fact that's what I'll be getting when I move up to 19s down the line.

Not a fan of the over-stretched look either and I'd rather have a tire that is WIDER that the rim - not the other way around. I drive my car too much to have to worry about every little damn thing I might encounter. :-?

Hell - I'm still trying to make the transition from driving THIS where I jumped center dividers to make left turns and hop curbs at will, to driving a lowered car! :o

my bad, yeah I would stick with what you have, the 235's, but if your in the market for new tires, you could try 40 or 45's to provide you with more rubber between the rims and the road. I've got 40's on mine if you need something to look at

Heh, after occasionally driving a delivery truck at my new job I can kinda relate; from having your head at least 15 feet off the ground to even a non-lowered Solara feels like a Lamborghini!
