I want to install new fuel injectors in my wife's Solara. The best price I have found on new ones is at a place called Five-O motorsports. Anyone use there stuff? Any problems?

Unless they are causing a CEL problem they should be ok. You may want to have a service center do a fuel injector cleaning and not that crap you pour in your tank. Man it's a Toyota 190K is just scratching the surface of the engines life if it has been properly maintained.

Yeah, the car runs pretty good. I have recently done quite a bit of maintenance on it. Through my efforts, I have gotten back about 20 Hp, 14 ft-lbs of torque and about 4 mpg, that had been lost due to age. It is much more drivable. However, I checked on the fuel injector cleaning and it seems to me that the injectors are a wearable part. You can clean all the gunk out, but you can't get back the surfaces that have been worn due to use. Despite all my efforts, I still notice some flat spots in my acceleration curve and I have checked out just about every system in the car to alleviate that and it still persists. It's not super noticeable, but it is there.

Anyway, if it's only about $300.00, I don't mind doing it, but if it's like $200.00 each, forget it.

So the question still stands. Does anyone know if these injectors are any good?

You can see more about the car by going to my website, which like most websites, is a work in progress:

The only test I note in my Haynes repair manual for the injectors is a resistance test which states 13.4 to 14.2 ohms. Have tried to do a fuel pump/fuel pressure check? I am assuming you have already replaced the fuel filter as it sounds like you know what you're doing.

Good luck.

I have a new fuel filter in the garage right now. I haven't changed it yet.

Bear in mind that I prefer to continue with all of my checks, including a spray pattern test on the injectors. But even if all that looks good and I seem to have solved the problem, I might replace them anyway, because one of the fuel rails runs under the intake manifold and I will have that out of the car to do the supercharger install. I figure, 190K, it can't hurt. All our cars are old and paid for, so I don't mind spending some money every now and then to keep them running well. But $1000 for fuel injectors at the stealership is something I would probably only do if they really, really needed it.

I don't see the ones for the 1mzfe on their web page, but all of the 6 cylinder injector sets on their page run about $260.00. For that kind of money I don't mind changing them, while I've got everything apart. But since you usually get what you pay for. . . .

So back to the original question. Does anyone know if the Five-O injectors are any good?

Answering my old question. I finally got around to calling Five-O motorsports. The sets of injectors they offer for about $260 are "rebuilt." In other words, cleaned. Just an FYI.

Another word of warning about injectors. There are several different pintel designs that produce different spray patterns. It's not a good idea to mix them unless you know that the pintel design is the same. So I wouldn't install the Supra injectors in a Solara unless it was confirmed that they both have the same pintel design. Another FYI.

Uhh I got stock solara injectors off a V6 solara 2000 5 speed with only 70K miles on them. 10 bucks plus shipping and its yours :) Better then paying 100+ for something you dont really need. My dads camry is a 91 model and still runs strong to this day with his original injectors.

I would consider changing my fuel injectors at nearly 200,000 miles proper maintenaince. I figure, its always better to be safe than sorry.

Good luck with the car, and nice MR2spyder.
