(More displacement), Stronger Block, the Solara is lighter than the Tacoma, and the 3.4L block has more Torque. Best of all there is a turbo kit available for it. Wow you boys must not get out much huh?????
I do know the 5VZ-FE 3.4L is an iron block...but it is expensive to fabricate new mounts to fit and of course fit a new rear end into the rear of a Solara. If you say you don't have to use rear leaf springs and such...which rear end do you suggest that will work with the Camry chassis? Remember, the Tacoma is a body on frame...where as the Camry/Solara is a unibody design. I have to see it to believe it so I will give this place a visit when i'm in the East Bay in a couple weeks.
I know how hard it is to fabricate parts for the Camry chassis...it's not easy nor is it cheap. I should know, one of my friends paid out a lot of cash to make a 3S-GTE fit onto his SXV10 Gen3 Camry chassis. Custom engine mounts and wiring harnesses are not cheap at all. Many of us get out much, but because many of us have professions to deal with 5 days a week unlike some people, we can only get out so much with the limited time we have.

Just some food for though for ya.
BTW, the curb weight of a Solara is about on par with a Tacoma S-Runner. So wherever you're getting your figures...you're wrong.

Also where is this turbo kit for the 5VZ? I know there's a TRD S/C for it...and also an S/C for the 2RZ/3RZ 4cyl. Also a Turbo kit for that same RZ block by EL Prototypes.
Oh also...It's CAMRY not Camery.
