I took the car to the track Sunday and made stock runs and 2 runs with the intake. There is a definite improvement. Here's the improvement at the various distances using the two best runs. Distances are in feet. time is seconds improved by the MAFci. There was no difference between runs except the pipe.

Here are the best two time slips. I thought I had a better stock but I was reading the wrong column. Sorry for the scans but they had a crap ribbon in the machine all day so they are very faint. I'm car #747.

I don't know much about quartermile times but the guys at the track seemed to think that 10WHP was a reasonable claim give the improvement. And I saw the type of cars doing 15.5sec runs and no longer expect a huge number.
Last note, I noticed it was trying to shift a little earlier (5800) in stock setup. With the pipe it will go to the governor. That's the torque boost in action. Any major track hounds please post your impressions.

forgot to mention... I had four stock runs and only two cp-e runs due to track closing. So I might have gotten better with a couple more runs.
If anyone has an injen pipe, I'd love to see it's performance and compare.

Hehe, Josh mentioned that you were at the track during the weekend. Thanks for running the tests !

BTW, what were you running against on the CP-e run ? Looks like you got wallopped.

Not sure... all but two runs were against the big boys. Lots of NOS around (even saw a NOS 4X4) but I'm pretty sure that this guy was #709 from the Stock run.

Even this Ford beat me by a bit (15.8 I think).

Here's the staging lanes while they cleared the track after a brand new Vette busted a rear axle. :o
Image
And don't tease me about R/Ts. I was starting late on purpose so the electronic time wouldn't be screwed up by me jumping a red light. By the end it was 1 hour plus between runs... didn't want to waste any.
Look at the reaction time of #820... that's a serious racer!
If anyone in the IL/WI area has an Injen pipe to test, it's a fun and cheap way to kill a Sunday.

BTW, from doing 0-60 with michaels_artic_frost, I can tell you that the average coupe probably gets 15.9 in stock config. Due to the converible weight, he slowly crawled ahead up to 60 then mine could hold it's own. Ended up at a couple car lengths at 80. So a coupe with the cp-e pipe should get a 15.7xx.

You know, a 1.5 second diff in the 1/4 mile against that 709 monster is not bad at all (I'm talking about the CP-e time). I could bet you'll get the time lower after a few more runs.

yeah... I didn't know until I went there that 1.5 sec is HUGE! And 6 seconds never seemed so big until you've seen a snowmobile do the 1/4 mile under 10. Maybe I should post one of my wins to make me feel better.

What a fun project! You've done a great job Mike!!

Next summer, we need to organize some SG members to meet at the track.
