Air Filter Comparisons

I was contemplating getting the crispmongo filter or just sticking with the AFE filter I got with my Cp-e. I was skeptical because i remember cpe saying that the afe was the filter that got them the best results.

I looked on the cpe site and it also showed that they have a new dry flow afe filter. Im still looking into the advantages of a dry filter.
I know its less maintenance and no chance of over oiling to ruin the maf and what not.
But what are the advantages of having and oiled filter?

my options are:
- crispmongo - http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php? ... crispmongo
- clean the one i already have - http://www.cp-e.com/2029.html
- dry flow afe filter - http://www.cp-e.com/2029.html

I came across this site showing the comparisons of some filters they tested.

http://mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

so im gonna look into the apexi filter. So far i cant find one big enough for the cpe. The biggest they have is only 80mm. I believe the cpe is 89mm.
I found a similar one to apexi which is the fujita filter.

not to dawg CPE but i think they just couldnt work out a decent deal with K&N like they could AFE, of course im only speculating. Ive read that everyone has had a problem with the supplied afe filter (drys out too much, etc). I only had my afe on for two weeks before i found a good deal on my 'crispmong' filter (e-0773) and changed it out immediately, you do have to remove the battery since its so massive. but i think its definitely a good choice to change the filter, seems to be able to get more air.

How you think you'll fit the 3" diameter dry flow afe filter (http://www.cp-e.com/2029.html) on your 3.5" diameter intake ??

ChrisMongO fits just tightly by removing temporary the battery first, to get some space, in Gen 2.
The K&N filter number is E-0773 (the Hummer size filter).

Also...you are right on CP-e size (3.5" = 88.9mm)

switching to a K&N seems like common sense to me... it isnt going to mess anything up, I would just do it to save some money if anything... I dont think youll be chirping fourth because of changing filters or anything, but at least youll never have to buy another one for it.

I have an A'PEXi on my Supra and love it...

But, with that said, there's really no such thing as a "lifetime lasting" "maintenance free" filter; those terms really contradict each other... The A'PEXi is a dry filter that claims to last forever, but the fact of the matter is, it will get dirty eventually and just spraying it with compressed air isn't enough to keep cleaning it (even from a 180lb air compressor)...

For your situation, go for the big K&N... It looks like it allows a lot of breathing, and you can recharge it whenever it gets dirty... Just don't put it back on when it's dripping oil and you'll be fine...

after much research and reading reviews and feedbacks from others.
Im think gonna try this out

http://www.f5air.com/filter.html

similar to the apexi cone design and its a dry filter.

but my question is there are two options... 10" long or 6" long...
10 seems too big...

got my fujita filter in last week.. just havent gotten around to posting the pics up...

its pretty much based on this design of the apexi power intake. But i couldnt get it since they didnt have the size of the 3.5 inch cpe. So i picked another filter with the same design that would fit and was a known name.
I researched reviews about fujita intakes and they were pretty good so i just went with it.

the fujita filter is o n the left and the afe on the right.
