I do have the JPP header.. but the problem is that i still have the CEL on after more than 6 months after installed it.
well.. isn't that just the lights being on?
so that, i don't really worry about it too much, and just got used to the light being on...
once it gets warmer, i may look into the problem again..
i can still use the help from anyone though.

sorry, i can't be a help...

That's a bummer. I heard from too many people that my CEL light is making me lose more power than I gain because the ECM throws itself in a lean? fuel ratio loop. I'm not too sure if that's happening, but I'm also just plain annoyed by the thing lol!

That is usually the case. I wish I could help in the installation of it! I am interested in hearing how this turns out. I do believe that NO computer controlled vehicle can run at its best (and most powerful/efficiently) without both oxygen sensors installed; the computer depends on the input from them to make real-time adjustments to the a/f ratio. That is why the light trips instantly when one is disconnected or malfuntioning. I personally can't imagine how a 'simulator' would allow the engine to do this... have you spoken to the manufacturer on this? What is their reasoning for using a simulator instead of the real thing (or am I just completely misunderstanding the situation here?) I'd like to hear what they say if you do.
Question (does anyone have an input here?)- would he be better off drilling into one of the center pipes, welding a bung in place, and installing the original o2 sensor, even though it would now only read one of the cylinders?

Orlin03 - It's not that the O2 sensor is disconnected that's the problem, because it's not. I still have it on the headers, it just reads differently because there is no front cat anymore. This then puts out different readings and the comp throws a code. That's why the CEL light is on :) and I installed (obviously not correctly) an O2 simulator so it will send ideal readings. This will then make the comp read that everything's grand and run normal again with the light off.

I see! That makes more sense to me now! Thanks for explaining that to me...
One more quick (and maybe just as silly) question- did you read and erase the code(s) after you installed the simulator? Emission codes generally do not go away once they've been tripped. It is always a much better idea to use a code reading device to do this, rather than disconnecting the battery.

Go to the dealer and see if you can get an ecu pinout then work from there
Or you can try the anti fowler mod they use on scions after a header install. I know it works on integras and civics as well with a highflow cat. USe the 18 mm kind from the help section of pepboys autozone ect and only drill one out to a half inch. As long as you have a 1/2 in bit it will cost less than 5 bucks

I didn't disconnect the battery to make the codes go away, I had to for the install. Also, we don't have the right reading tool + parts are missing from it at school, so I have to take it to Autozone sometime to have them read/clear them for me.

Wow, I had no idea about a mechanical way to do that. I thought the ones out were all gimmicks, gah! That would have been SSOOOO much easier than the electronic way I'm doing it. If all else fails, I'll be doing that and sell the o2 sim.

make sure if you do the anti fowler you put it after the second 02 sensor as suggested that is the sensor for emissions.

It does work on a lot of cars I wish you good luck. If figured I would post it because the solara and TC are similar engine wise so emissions might be similar.

I really wish youi could have posted that a month ago before I bought my o2 simulator. I took my solara to Autozone tonight and the guy cleared my codes.

One code was (I think) P0606 which was something about the PCM. The other was about the secondary o2 sensor reading too high (obviously). What's the one about the PCM for? Also, I'm probably going to convert to the mechanical sim b/c the electrical is giving me too much greif (I practically obliterated my O2 sensor's wires  ).

the PCM one is probably from a bad o2 sensor connection

How would I go about fixing that one? I'll go and check all the O2 sensor's connections again tomorrow maybe, but what if it gives me the same code again? What else could cause the problem?

Well I've been using te o2 sim's website support for the last few days...turns out I'm wrong with my soldering! That means I get to take out the o2 sensor/simulators, undo the soldering spots, and resolder it all together correctly! Yay, go me! :(

I wish I wasn't so paranoid about solder and wires. Oh well, life goes on (learning from our mistakes is fun!).
