So do you think the one I posted is a TRD replica too? Maybe?

Hmm....

From that thread you posted, what makes you think it's a replica? I didn't see anything that would suggest that, unless I just missed it.

instead of blowing your $ on a ridiculously overpriced muffler just save that $400+ and invest it in a tunablec CP-e

i got my magnaflow + installation for $150-60. so consider some alternatives too. dont think that even the "real" trd muffler is exclusively for the camry/solara...remember how siennasc98 installed it on his sienna?

True, but what if the price of this muffler was $100 no shipping?

Would you say the same thing?

Very interesting! Somewhere in Texas, it seems they're making fake TRD mufflers, maybe?

So Sebas, how does that muffler sound?

It sounds pretty good...low tone very silent at idle. But since I got the CP-e it is a mix of sounds and sensation...nice sound at lower RPM...agressive sound at high RPM

Refering to this we can see there is 2-3 layers

I still don't know if I got a fake one...the principle to pay full price for a fake make me mad !! I'm supposed to meet Brian someday in Quebec...maybe he will be able to tell me right away...

Sorry, I missed this thread. I could have answered this a long time ago. I had this discussion with the development guys at TRD a year and a half ago.

TRD had a couple versions of the Gen2 tip.

Version 1 is a round tip with the logo on the sides.
Version 2 is an oval tip with the logo on the top.

There is quite a bit of inventory floating around so it's possible to still end up with the older version when you order. Personally, I think the oval looks better with the SE Sport body kit. It fills the gap just right.

The Camry TRD muffler in the beginning of the thread is also a TRD muffler. The decorative tip slipped over the exhaust pipe is intentional. Having a small air gap between the polished tip and the exhaust pipe acts as a heat insulator. (Less heat discoloration of the tip.)

So, even though the oval tip would look better, do you think I should jump on this one for $100?

Will I have to buy gaskets or any hardware or is that all reusable?

You will need a gasket, bolts and nuts. For some reason they were not included in mine. (Did anyone else get them with their muffler?)

Just go to the hardware store and get stainless bolts and nuts. As for the gasket, you can reuse the old one only if you apply some RTV sealant around it. (Orange or copper will do fine.)

As for the price, it's a hella good deal.

What is the part number for the TRD muffler with the oval tip? Anyone know?

TRD Sport Muffler System (Solara 04+ Camry 02-06)
PTR06-06040-25
Notes: OLD PART #PT901-17400-25

Like Brian said...same number 2 versions...you would have to specify the oval outlet. Make it clear that it is important for you.
