ERG Problem??

ERG Problem??

Postby YESCA » Mon Nov 10, 2008 10:04 am

Ok, so I have just had my CEL light come one and I put my scanner in and read the codes. one was for insuffucent EGR flow, and the 2nd was for too much EGR flow. The only thing I can think that would cause this is a sticking EGR valve. I was going to go buy another and swap it out, along with cleaning the EGR tube and other parts.

Has anyone had this problem before?

Yup, it;s normal. Usually 1 code or the other, but I;ve seen both. A COMMON issue people don;t think of is the sensor on the top goes bad, so it does not correctly read the valve position. Vik had excessive flow CEL, and we just changed the sensor on the top, and all was good. :)

I'd first take the Valve off and see if the valve is sticking manually. If it seems to be fine, chances are, it;s the sensor.

I tried that, but it has not changed. the CEL went off and it came back on in a matter of a few miles. I even reset it with my scan tool.
