On the verge of scrapping the whole project and saying screw it. I talked to ed at ppe today and he quoted me 400 to replace the 4 bearings, 2 of which had black grease in them which he said they shouldnt have had. He also said my rotors need to be stripped of the current paint because it is flaking off.

And on top of this I took my torn egr tube to a welder today, he said it is titanium which is hella expensive to weld and it will cost 100 to seal it up.

Now this would all be fine and dandy if money grew on trees and i owned one of those trees in my back yard. But the short story is i dont know if im up for this anymore. When i do something i do it right, and throwing on a s/c that an expert says needs to come in for repairs is something i simply cannot have on my conscious.

sorry for my venting, i will decide by the end of the week if i want to go through with all this, if not another s/c could be going up for sale... :bleep2:

Titanium? not as far as I know. What does it look like I might be able TIG it back together. Can someone confirm it is stainless?

Do you mean brake rotors? who cares what the paint looks like. But you can strip them with some spray on paint remover form any autoparts store.

$400 for the rebuild is decent. I paid $350 locally to have mine done. Oddly, I also have an egr pipe that has a tear in it, but I'm not using it. Sorry for the money woes, I've been there many times due to my car addiction.

Oh, you might be able to strip the s/c rotors yourself with some type of cleaning agent. The coating is just teflon.

Ahh teflon coat I bet a soft brass wire brush attached to a drill along with some aircraft stripper or TB cleaner would work just fine.

Well like I said if you get a pic and someone can confirm the material is not titanium I might be able to help you.

Titanium? WTF?

And $400 for the rebuild? Holy crap that is CHEAP! PSE charges around $700.

And the bearings ARE supposed to have grease in them.

As for the Rotors, thats common, unless you wanted to spend $3000 on a new SC. You gotta pay to play.
