Supra MAF Compatibility

Supra MAF Compatibility

Postby CamryOnBronze » Mon Jul 30, 2007 11:46 am

I just bought a Supra MAF kit from Joe and the instructions say it is to be used with the Injen SRI with CAI extension... I know this kit came out a while ago, but Im wondering if that really is the case. I dont really want to run that setup, so i was wondering if there is any way to use the Supra MAF with the stock airbox or with a CPE intake. I wasnt able to find an answer through searching and I apologize if this has been asked before, Im just trying to decide if I even want to up the boost in the spring or stay at 4 psi. Any help would be appreciated.

the problem is that the supra MAF is made for either 2.5in tube in and out... its not a drop in type of sensor... its circular and is made to be in place of some of the pipe

not sure I understand what you mean... I didn't do the CPE intake because I already had the injen and ext. before the CPE came out...I liked my setup very much

I really dont want to run a CAI... just the idea of them has always made me kind of nervous, i dont know... that and the extension looks kind of hack IMO... I dont know, I guess Im just being picky  Also the fact that they dont make the Injen CAI extension anymore, but I guess a used one could pop up...

I realize the sensor is circular, i just wondered if there was any other setup it worked with... thanks for the info.

You really should not need an injen intake because you are using an inline maf. I would just get a 92-95 civic short ram intake and cut in half then put the supra sensor in the middle. It should work i TRIED A SIMILAR SETUP WHEN MAKING CUSTOM INTAKES BUT i NEVER GOT THE SUPRA WIRING RIGHT. Opps damn caps.

Kinda like this one. But you may need to mod it a little for vacuum but i looks like it has the 3 required and it is 2.5 inch piping so it will prob work.

Thanks for the help Midias, Im going to think things over before I decide what im doing with upping the boost.

All i know is the Supra turbo MAF is the worlds most advanced sensor used in automotive applications that are mass-produced.

Using lasers and mirrors, thats crazy. Awesome and crazy accurate, but crazy none-the-less.

Wow mine must be an old TT model because it uses 2 wires like every other kind of MAF sensor.

I believe the only way to run it is with a SRI with an extension. Either Injen, CPE, or a homemade one it wouldn't matter. I don't know how you'll be able to hook it up with the stock box.
I got rid of my UPFD extension and now I'm using a 3" 45 degree bent pipe, which I didn't even have to modify. This is much better IMO, and it doesn't cost as much.

lol...in this particular case, too bad you dont' have a gen3 1mzfe....the supra maf can just drop right in place of the stock maf while keeping the stock airbox if you really wanted to

I would say that you pretty much have to pick up a short-ram or cai for your car...

OR...if you can source any v6 1mzfe piping/hosing from a gen3 camry, it may fit up to the gen4 air box...
