Keyed my 07 Convertible.....

Keyed my 07 Convertible.....

Postby Elmer » Sun Oct 29, 2006 12:26 pm

Well, after putting under 2000 miles on my new ragtop, someone managed to key the passenger side door and black trim. Deep enough to get below the clear cote, so I can't buff it out with ScratchX, etc. (But it did reduce their appearance somewhat, Thanks Meguiars...) Just a couple of 1-2 inch gouges, which because the car is white, you can't see from more than a few feet away, but I see them.....

I do the usual thing of parking at the back of the lot, away from all other cars. Probably eocouraged them to do it.....

Unfortunately, it was inevitable, as every nice car I've ever had has been vandalized in one way or another. Wouldn't expect it on a Toyota as much as my Beemer's or Jag. Guess Toyota did too good of a job making the Solara look more expensive then it is....

Make you want to stake out your car and watch for some ass**** to try and do it, and then do a little Louisville Slugger time....

Oh well... just thought I'd cry in my beer here.... among fellow owners who can feel my pain......

same thing happened to my car a week ago. Some lowlife did a tiny scratch on the hood with a key and I couldn't remove the scratch with scratch removers. I parked in the back as well.

I just did a wash and wax job the day before, it made the scratch a little less noticeable but its still there.

Sorry to hear about yours though, sucks especially when it is brand spanking new.

Someone once deliberately hit my car with a shopping cart; I parked in the back as well. I had kept the Solara dent free for a year until that moment.

People just hate cuz they jealous.

I've got door dins and scratchs all over from idiots. but the kill was this: I got out of work one day and there was a huge dent with a clear visible footprint on the rear panel.

Sorry to heat that. Really sucks that someone has to do crap like that. Karma will get them, though, just know that.

sorry to hear about that bro... this is just how it is in this F'ed up world... you will get tired of worrying about it a couple of months later down the road.

i got keyed across the whole driverside door  ... dings  ... encounters with shopping cart  ... someone kicked in my trunk  (Airforce One footprint was left on the trunk) hahaha...

i give up on trying to park away from everyone else... i think it just attracts people. so im just waiting for someone to hit the car hard and really f it up so i can get it all fixed at the bodyshop...

Good Luck!

WTF? This happens in my neighborhood all the time too. How can you hate on someone you don't even know THIS much?. . .

Someone side-swiped our Camry and took off a few months ago. It was one of those "should I fix it or leave it" gouges through the bumper paint. I say get it fixed before it gives chronic bad feelings. Especially if it's only 2000 miles.

sorry about your car. I know when our es was keyed i was soo po'ed. I had babied the exterior and then some a$$ did the likewise. Keys cars would need to be repainted to remove the blemish. They is no way you can buff it out....GL!

When I was in highschool we caught some kid keying my friends camaro, so after a bit of ass kicking we tossed his ass in the trunk and drove arounds for about 2 hrs while yelling crap back at him. In the end we dropped him off in a parking lot and told him to repay the damage or he would really be tossed off a bridge and into the river. He got the message.

less than a week after my friend bought his jeep someone keyed it, then a day later someone else spray painted FU in the hood. he was pissed to say the least.

will insurance take care of it?
someone keyed my friends subaru 2.5rs on the drivers side door, he filed it with insureance and got his whole car re-painted. maybe you can get the same deal. though the fact youll have to pay a deductable sucks.

either way, i believe in karma so lets hope this bites them in the asss.
