High Mileage Solara Problems

High Mileage Solara Problems

Postby HomeboyMI » Tue Sep 22, 2009 7:55 am

I was reading the post that people were going over 100,000 miles with their Solara. Please inform us of what parts you have had to replace and approximately what miles were on your car when you did.

I have 35,000 on my 04 and the only thing that went bad so far was the battery with a shorted cell about a month ago. Original tires and brakes are in great shape. Average 34mpg with paper and pencil. Change my own oil and rotate tires every 5,000 miles. Changed air filter at 25,000 to the KM filter.

I hope you high milers will let us know how your starters, alternaters etc have held up.

Thanks

Right now I have about 76k and the problem I've had so far was a faulty radiator hose and I changed it myself. That's it so far and I hope it stays that way for a long while...

Got 230k on mine. it was supercharged @ 70k. Only problems were:

-needed new batteries (on my 3rd one)
-Alternator felt like it was weak @ 200k so replaced it with a highlander unit
-re greased both rear hubs due to noise
-trunk cable (release) snapped so now gotta use a key each time
-driver side speaker went out so i upgraded with components :D

other than that, it still sees boost every day and runs like a champion

173K

Struts, brakes (a few times), Tires, battery, 1 knock sensor, ebrake shoes, blower resistor, belts (timing and serpentine), water pump with timing belt and the valve on top of the charcoal canister.

That's it I still have the original alternator, radiator, clutch ect....

133,000 miles. I've replaced serpintine belt, brakes, rotors, and the fuel filter (which to my surprise wasnt stuck on, like most other gen 1s seem to have happen.)
