HELP!! Always going to the gas station

HELP!! Always going to the gas station

Postby ladiiscorpio » Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:35 pm

hello i have a 99 toyota solara v6 se version 158,xxx miles and its starting to bother me that im constantly at the gas station every 2 days when i use to fill up every week and a half.

I drive alot and i had my car for about 2 years, drives great and was really good on gas. Since ive notice the change, ive only put a short ram intake on the car and my gas tank keeps clicking off when im clearly empty (really embarrassing).

any idea whats happening to my baby and why my gas tank clicks off every 2 second when getting gas, now that im always running to the gas station it becoming a headache.

WHY AM IM CONSTANTLY AT THE GAS STATION??
WHY DOES MY MY TANK KEEP CLICKING OFF AS IF I WAS FULL... EVERY 2 SECONDS?

I think you have a few questions to be answered, we're gonna need some info from you too.

Every two days is relative...how many miles between FULL to E?
What intake did you install...is your MAF sensor hooked up?
You say you have 'clicking' when trying to fill up...are you saying that when your in the process of filling up it keeps on clicking (when on empty)? That could be a problem with the EVAP & fumes.

I would start by, if you have an off brand/ebay intake putting the stock intake back on...

Never thought of that. When we just picked up the mustang about a month ago, everytime we went to the gas station it'd fill for about 10 seconds before clicking off like it was full. We'd have to just keep click-clicking until maybe about $40 bucks in and just call it a day. It's happened the two times I've tried filling up. I figured it was just some sort of issue with fitting the nozzle in correctly or a sensor was messed up. I haven't checked up on it since then but I'll go fill 'er up tonight and see if the problem still persists.

I'm assuming though if it were an EVAP issue we'd be throwing codes, yes?

gas is 2.85 where i live, 30 dollar got me about 10. gallons, 205 highway miles on cruise control because i needed the gas to last. seem that stop and go driving affects it 100X more. if i was to stomp on the pedal for from 0- 30 you can clearly see the gas line falling.

the short ram intake i purchases is from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Short-Induction-I ... sbs_auto_1

the process of filling up, most of the time i fill up when im bone dry empty but regardless my tank being empty or have gas, it still clicks. sometimes this work when getting gas, pull the nozzle out some and squeeze the handle as light as you possible can, as light as the last 50 cents going in the tank.
Evap & fume?? i have no clue, ill look into that

The ebay short rams do not have the proper holes or the proper diametr pipe. They mess up maf sensor readings and in the end they do nothing more than lower horsepower screw up the vaccume system and kill gas mileage.

there all quite different, thats why you pay 20$ for ebay sri, 50$ for obx sri, 100$ for injen (used) and more for the cold air extension, and LOTS MORE for CP-E sri, they are all slightly different or majorly different!
