So me and a friend a view days ago decided to rip up my stock intake and try making our own out of PVC piping....... welll, its does what its supposed to do and all but thats just the problem

i am getting to much airflow any my engine is B****ing and the engine light keeps coming on. Everytime the engine light comes on, my performance actual gets destroyed horribley, if someone could help in anyway way, please :(

I have inspections in june and I am kinda short on cash. The stock intake(which I was going to put back on if it didnt work ) has been trashed already so I cant go back to that

any suggestions are apprecated :D

and if you are going to just blab about what a mistake it was to do what I did, I dont want to hear it, I already know now that it was stupid

also, I was wondering if anyone has tryed that Weapon R Secret Intake. It looked interesting.... :/

1. salvage yard
2. when you go to be inspected, stop a block away and reset your ECU, so the CEL is not lit up
3. when the CEL is on for this, the A/F runs rich, which is why you'll notice a performance loss unless (possibly) you're at WOT.
4. be careful with PVC, the underhood temps may be too much for the material and it may melt/warp.

sounds to me like someone needs to order an OBX intake now...... :-)

What about Injen? is that good?

and the PVC doesnt melt because I have heat sheild, so it doesnt effect the temp of the PVC

How do you know you're getting too much air flow? OBDII scanner?

I have a weapon r. It works just fine but the air filter is uglier than Amy Whinehouse.

I've done lots of intake modifications on my 1MZFE powered RX300,

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2215309/6

I've had my failures and it's always in a constant state of flux.

I too had the issue with too much air once I got back to sea level after 6 years of 7000+ feet living for 6 years in Mexico City, where I needed all the air I could get. I had to take out the lower intake on the bumper and you can kind of get a picture of what I'm doing at the moment.

Part of my system uses a section of pipe from a Weapon-R Dragon Intake (pretty filter but it doesn't do much of anything except noise), the Secret Intake with a scoop would be a better idea if you want to go that route, but agree with others on the CP-E intake (save the cash for one of those).

You can use PVC with ease.

Did you custom intake turn the MAF around backwards. Go buy the OBX intake for a quick 35 dollar fix.

You still won't pass smog if the sensors are not on line.
It usually takes a while for that.
I've done this for my car using my laptop. Clear them and then I wait to see the sensors all start up.
Got Boost?? :sweet:
