Exhaust Advice

Postby SpeedySolara » Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:18 pm

Before we begin, I searched for answers on previous topics but haven't found anything specific to my concerns. I have the OBX headers and Y-pipe (3" piping)which I will be installing within the next few weeks along with going to 6 psi. My concerns are:

1) How much power will I be robbed from by using 2.5" piping and the TRD muffler vs. OBX catback and muffler? These would be from the Y-pipe back.

2) What hi flow cat do you guys recommend that wont give me CEL's and will allow me to pass NYS inspection?

Any reommendations, tips, ideas for my exhaust are welcome. On a side note, I hate fart can mufflers or anything thats loud. G35/G37 tone is the loudest Ill go but too bad that cant be done on our cars. Thanks in advance for any help.

The OBX muffler sounds great and you can add any tip you want. depending on your tune it could be about 10-15 hp 2.5 vs 3 inch but the 2.5 might net you more tq.

I like magnaflow cats but their stainless versions are a bit pricey. Thunderbolt makes a good quality stainless cat for cheap. Both might give CELS the magnaflow gave me less CELs only one once and the thunderbolt gives me one about every 2 months even with 1 antifouler.
