I currently have a 99 toyota solara se v6,first toyota, so have no idea what im doing,i thought i could buy it and turbo it,i then found out there are no kits for it,the s/c is $3200,and have never done a remote turbo,i understand the s/c is the best route because it is a plug n play system,stock,and would be the easiest on the engine,but I really want a turbo solara so my question is should i do the 4cyl swap then turbo that?

Sounds like you need to do a lot of research, read the stickies and use the search function. If you thing $3200 for a decent SC kit is expensive then run fast from all things turbo. Unless you really like replacing blown engines.

What the guys are essentially saying is to use the SEARCH button. These been several ways and paths tried and its been extensively covered.
SCing is probably going to be the cheapest route.

When people type like that, they seem stupid. And I don't feel like spending my time deciphering gibberish to answer a question. I don;t car if it's the internet or job application.

Hmmmm how about we do less flamin about peoples grammer (which i understood easily) and more focus on the topic at hand. And yes, the search function will be your best route on finding all the information you need. Plus, you'll also find first hand experience on which works best and is most cost effective and/or worth the time/money.

The only swap really worth considering to go to a four cylinder would be to a 3S-GTE, but it will cost you way more than the SC to do right, and the power would be pretty close. You already have the V6, so you should probably just bolt on the kit and build from there. There is a lot you can do with a supercharged 1MZ.

Yeah man if you dont have the funds for a s/c and you want to go turbo then that price is REALLY going to blow your mind away. I would say stick with the v6 s/c it, and work from there. The 1mz has a lot of potential man and if you do everything right you will definetely be happy at the end with the results.

a lot of the older members know these things as common knowledge; ie the TRD SC is a cheap and easy to setup performance boost since there is SO much material on the subject, data, dynos, and members who have gone through with S/C their V6s.

That being said, some choose to be different and try new things. Even though the 1MZ dosent have the greatest compression for a turbo, its still doo-able.

I look at these topics like I do the TRD Lip kit vs fiberglass body kits, some people choose to go the more 'custom' route and others stick with whats proven to look ascetically pleasing and what they know will look like, while others usually get ragged on about going custom/fiberglass/bondo/work intensive way.

My opinion, if you can afford unforeseen costs of going the more custom/rare route, with not 'too much' help from this site go turbo...going SC will just be a lot 'easier' ...

Well,thank you for the people who actually helped,not just bashing me.As I said I was just looking for input,after doing some research it does seem like the s/c is the best route,sorry I didnt search it first,and sorry my typing was a little eradic,I have a newborn son who was crying and was in the library so I was trying to hurry.Thanks for all the feedback guys,I really appreciate it!
