dude i just picked up the cp-e and i'm about to sh*t my pants cuz i'm so excited for this weekend to come. i'm kinda new to the game too but i wouldn't trust universal stuff. most parts are made for specific cars and for the solara there is a somewhat limited selection of parts. go with the sure things first. i did my hwk everyday for 2 wks straight before i decided to go with the cp-e as my first mod. nub i know. but good luck

^You'll hear both sides of the stories from different members on the board. Although I don't doubt the ability of the CP-e, I'll vouch for the Injen when it's combined with the UPFD or shocar cold-air extension, much like the one for sale here:http://solaraguy.com/viewtopic.php?t=43396. I myself run the Injen/UPFD, and it does its job well.

I've had both the cp-e and the injen + UPFD extenstion and still think the stock intake is just fine. They do look cool, though.

^ Have to agree on this one. An intake, I dont care which brand or design, is really not going to make much of an increase in power. Even the CPE tunable isnt going to really give you much of a seat-of-your-pants feeling of a large power gain. Most of the time you will find that it is purely psychological and based on the fact that you added an intake and it sounds throatier.

That being said, the CPE tunable should be slightly better than the base or the Injen, but nothing anyone could ever truly feel when driving. I know I will get flamed for saying so, but once you invest in some big dollar performance mods you will realize that ALL intakes really are little more than noise makers. They are fun to have, look nice, and sound awesome, but dont expect your car to be OMG fast after installing one- no matter which brand you choose.

BTW, on that K&N.....where's the MAF hook up?

or are you rocking a 4cyl?

because if you're a 6cyl, you are gonna need a place to hook up your MAF sensor.

generally a good idea to STAY AWAY from generic or universal intakes.

but damon is right, it'll make little difference in the grand scheme of things, other than noise and a few more ponies.

but between the two, cpe and injen, i'd say do the cpe if you're gonna do either.

but personally, if i had to go back and do it again, i would have upgraded my suspension/sway bars before my intake.

I have had stock, stock with K&N, EBAY no name intake, HKS short ram, HKS short ram with CAI extension and CPE . CPE is the best by far.

From worst to best it went

ebay -> stock -> stock with K&N -> HKS -> HKS CAI -> CPE -> CPE with K&N filter. CPE is a very noticeable difference wile the rest not so much and the ebay intake is garbage because it messes up the MAF.

I think I have almost as many intake combinations as exhaust combinations.
