Which and What rotors?

Which and What rotors?

Postby nemoxfishy » Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:50 am

Hello SG members...
Recently, the brakes on my solara are disappointing me. My steering wheel vibrates violently whenever i apply the brakes. I changed the pads before so i dont think its the problem. I asked a local garage and they told me its my rotors...
Any suggestions on which and what rotors i should go for and around what price?
Should i get OEM rotors or aftermarket?
Thx~

Brembo blanks are great, drilled and slotted get you nothing on the street.

I personally get the wearevers from advance auto parts they seem to work great and I can get a free set any time because they have a 2 year warranty. I have not paid for rotors or pads sense 2003.

I've been using R1 concepts drilled and slotted rotors for a while now, upgraded front brake pads and stock brake pads in the rear and still have plenty of pading left on both sets. Very pleased with it...I was concerned how long the pads would last, but I've been pleasantly suprised. Plus, looks better than blanks. Here's the link:

I got my Axxis Deluxe pads from the same site, but try ebay, probably find something cheaper.

The Pad makes the different for the most part, not so much the rotor. I got whatever was cheapest at Autozone with EBC Green Pads.

Brembo blanks and your done. Mine are going on 5 years.

Also, it is suggested that you change your pads every time you change your rotors, because the pad cuts itself to the rotor when it is breaking in. I prefer OEM pads - no noticeable problems with braking, and less squealing and significantly less brake dust than any aftermarket I've tried so far. (I've used EBC Green and Hawk HPS).

R1 Concepts drilled/slotted rotors and pads for me - they've been rock solid and very reasonably priced.

I second that I have Brembo blanks with new OEM pads.

I have DBA 4000 Series slotted rotors on all four corners, and i have AutoZone Duralast Gold ceramic brake pads.
They're better than my stock, oh and i have my rear SS lines on also.
Still tryin to get my front ones on.....
And i think when my front dver caliper locked o me it might have messed up my DBA rotors..... :(

Thanks for all the input guys!
I think I'll be going for the R1Concepts just for the looks...
As for replacing them myself, anyone have any tips?
Thanks
