Huge Throttle body mod coming soon!

Huge Throttle body mod coming soon!

Postby trd4life » Sat Feb 25, 2006 9:26 pm

Ok guys here we go. I originally bought 20 OEM throttle bodies, sent them all out to be ported and polished, but the company backed out on me. So i have finally come out with a solution to sell on the forums, all though definitely more expensive.

I have a TRD supecharger at the machine shop now, their porting the throttle body inlet out as much as they can, once i determine the max they can port it will be ordering the throttle bodies.

I am using Mustang throttle bodies to start off with because of there price and wide selection. I have made an nice adapter plate to munt the TB to your intake manifold-S?C.I found a guy who makes TPS adapter plates, so you can run your Solara TPS sensor on the mustang throttle body and still keep your factory ECU.

The throttle body will also have a modified throttle cable bracket and linkage. I am going to try to swap over as many of the camry TB parts onto the mustang TB as i can to make it as plug and play as possible.

Currently working on a solution for the IAC valve which normally sits under the stock throttle body regulating idle on your car. I may not be able to run the toyota valve on the mustang TB but i should be able to come up with a bolt on solution to keep you check engine light free.

The stock throttle body is 55mm i believe. I am going to offer 60mm polished or satin tb's for n/a guys and 65mm for boosted guys. I was thinking about a 70mm but i dont think there is any way to port the trd s/c inlet to 70mm anyway, to the adapter plate would down have to be tapered anyway to make the proper transition.

I wont know pricing fo sure until i get a finished unit on my Solara and dyno it.

The intake manifold will HAVE to be port match to the huge throttle body to see any horsepower gains with this mod. For n/a guys i am also going to have available a semi ported, polished upper intake manifold with the enlarged TB inlet and knife edged ACIS valve.

N/A gains should be in the 10whp range s/c/turbo/nitrous 15whp no problem. I am going to be runnign my boosted solara on the dyno for HP gains.

I have done soo much research on this trying to find the most cost effective way.

More to come.

If everyone on here had money, I'd say you've got the golden ticket. Knowing that's not the case, I'll say myself that this is a big deal for us. We haven't had any innovations with our throttle body so this will help, and tenfold at that on boosted cars.

Good lookin out man, I'll definitely be down for this a little further along in my car's build process. So when I get to that time you best believe I'll be on this... cost pending of course, I don't think it's possible for this to really be THAT over the top as far as pricing for what it is.

Anywho, you get to workin your magic and let us know how this turns out.

I didnt forget about the proflow ones Midas. I guess just curious if it's worth port maching the intake manifold or supercharger inlet.
