question #2, if I DO get the $11 option. does that mean i HAVE to get a cat? or it gives me the option of adding a cat? Does the option modify the actual y-pipe or it adds something on?

as soon as I get this cleared up and understand the picture more clearly, payment shall be sent.

I will spoon feed it because the answer on the previous page may not be clear.
The $11 option gives the option of a cat or straight pipe. You do not need to buy anything extra if you want a straight pipe (EVEN IF YOU GET THE $11 OPTION). You do not need the $11 option if you are going to swap the stock y pipe for every emissions test. ALL the $11 option does is allow for a custom high flow cat to be added in if the buyer wishes to.

Look at the picture below that I posted up a few pages ago. It would allow a cat to be added on while keeping the pipe the same length like the painted on cat done in green.

What the option gives you is a removable mid pipe that you can either take and weld a custom highflow cat on or just take off and put a bolt on cat. I you choose to use a bolt on cat then you will still have the mid pipe to swap back and forth.

You wont need this option if you plan on not using a cat.

This a photochop pic as an example of what the option will look like.

ok, spoon fed, haha,... so if I pay $11, that green section that you drew, will be replaced by a straight pipe that can be removed to accomodate a cat. in addition, I can also leave it there, so that it will be a straight pipe. right?... getting ready to pay...

You got it and to make life even better when I get my pipe I will make a how to for adding a highflow cat. I have been using a magnaflow for about a year and it has not set off the CEL.

sorry i havent paid yet, but i am oh so close and am not flaking out.

i got my car back from the body shop, put slicks on it, went to the trak and on the 4th launch sheared all my wheel studs on a wheel and the wheel fuckd up my fender really bad. my car went straight to the body shop, so thats y i had to wait a lil bit on the payment(paying cash for the repairs).

hey Midias, thanks for the help so far. and i'm also just wondering... other than emissions regulation, why would anyone want a cat? (I know it's illegal, but come on, speeding is illegal and so is aftermarket HID kits) Doesn't having a catylic converter hinder performance? Wouldn't you WANT a straight pipe?

A highflow cat is almost the same as a test pipe on most cars. Unless you are running a lot of boost you will probably not notice a difference between a test pipe and a highflow cat. Also I know on a lot of forums I have viewed dyno graphs that show a highflow cat making more hp than a straight pipe.

that sounds pretty convincing. so hard would it be to install a high flow cat then? bolting on parts? or does this involve welding and finding custom parts? I guess i'll get the $11 option since i'm able to have it act as a straight pipe also.

^^^if you can find a high flow cat with the same measurements of the removable piece, then it'll be a simple six bolt removal, but if not, then something custom will have to be done. I think Midias said something about doing something custom. But for smog checks, just get a cheap catalytic, then swap it back out with the straight pipe.

Got my flanges today so when i get the down pipe I will cut the highflow cat out of my exhaust and I will weld the flanges on and bolt in on.
