Doesn't matter if you do it together or not, just whatever time/money restraints allow.

i dont think it matters if the exhaust and intake are done at different times, just keep in mind that if you mod the exhaust too much, you will lose low end torque. i think if you keep the original y pipe and catalytic converter then after that if you add a second y pipe going to 2 mufflers... your torque should still be there. i dont have personal experience to back this up... but the information that i've read about our cars exhaust is that the y pipe is the most restrictive point, so if you keep that, your back pressure should still be there, and your low end torque. as for my car, ill be supercharged soon, and my y pipe is definitely getting replaced with a better flowing one. the idea is that with the supercharger, you want to free up the exhaust, because the supercharger makes up for any low end torque that would have been lost if naturally aspirated.

^ Yup, mine is split after the catalytic converter and I didn't notice any loss in torque.

OEM y pipe is junk, N/A or Boosted. Opening up your y pipe will give you big gains, even if you are N/A. I had my dats y pipe on for a while before I went SC, it was a huge performance gain. For avoiding huge torque loss (that would overwhelm horsepower gain), IMO the piping you need to be concerned with is your mid pipe. Find a dat's y pipe, run the cat delete (test pipe), wire an o2 simulator in your ecu (from URD)(so you can do without the rear o2 signal), run dats y pipe and test pipe into a single 2.5 inch midpipe, and split the midpipe at the axle to 2 mufflers. You will maintain your backpressure just fine and experience the gains from trashing the junk oem y pipe.

^^^ that makes perfect sense to me.

also explains why alot of people with superchargers upgrade to a 3" mid pipe, to lose the back pressure there.
its actually good to hear that the stock y pipe is junk, this means there is room for easy improvement :)

No need to do it together. Also remember the TRD exhaust it just a muffler but I really like the sound of it.
