i agree too expensive...can you cp-e owners tell us if u honestly felt a big difference in horse power etc..?

If your NA get CP-E. Its pricey but well worth it...

Forget CP-e they are just wAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy overpriced.
You might get a little more power, and a slightly different sound.
But I just can't see spending that kind of cash on an intake.
I like the injen stuff.
Also, I haven't seen any actual dyno charts with the CP-e, sure they have that one on their website, but the frickin' baseline is twenty horses less than my car made, and my car also made about ten more then the cp-e.....WITH AN EBAY INTAKE!!!!!!

So in my opinion, the CP-e is not worth paying for PERIOD.

As a vehicle enthusiast and a performance nut having owned (and modified MOST) of a couple dozen motorcycles and a half dozen cars with various modifications from mild to wild... and CAREFULLY NOTED the subtleties of incremental and OCCASIONALLY substantial gains (turbo related and major motor...) I can tell you for a FACT (with the FIRST 50k miles WITHOUT and the RECENT 50k+ miles WITH) the CP-e on my 2004 SE Sport V6...with this single kit (which is NOT just an intake, but a TUNED SYSTEM) I have experienced one of THE MOST dramatic improvements in performance drivability over just about ANY other "single" modification I've made on ANY vehicle as a "bang-for-buck" gain.

Those of you who DON'T have or haven't tried a CP-e unit should STHU.

Regarding the Injen, I HAVE NOT USED IT so I have no opinion. Others on here had good experiences with them. Listen to what they have to share. As for those who have used the CP-e (SPECIFICALLY THE GEN 2's) I don't know that there are many who say "I REGRET HAVING GOTTEN A CP-e" relative performance gain for buck.

Relative the DYNO numbers from CP-e... ABSOLUTE HP FIGURES and TQ FIGURES are NOT what's important here... it's about the TANGIBLE INCREMENTAL GAIN on the charts. Anytime you pick up a dozen or so horses and a similar amount of torque through the curve... THAT'S A GREAT GAIN!

ADDITIONALLY, when you actually DRIVE with one of these units, you experience OTHER (i.e.: RESPONSIVENESS, SPOOL-UP, SHIFTING AGGRESSIVENESS) related changes that are also byproducts of adding this type of an exaggerated intake plumbing, ESPECIALLY WITH SUPPLEMENTAL TUNING COMPENSATION.

LASTLY, as noted in that last line, this kit is NOT just a PIPE on the TB of your intake manifold... but a carefully engineered tuning accessory complete with balanced, perfectly civil and durable (OVER 50k miles WITH it and not one CEL or drivability issue...) tune in a package that is also well suited to the addition of an exhaust modification.

Ultimately, whether or not it's worth $5~$600 dollars is entirely up to the individual with respect to WHAT VALUE THEY PLACE on HP -VS- $. SOME cars can gain 10~20HP with an air filter... and several dozen with an air filter and good exhaust. OUR SOLARAs are NOT such a car! IF you want NOTICEABLE HP and PERFORMANCE GAINS on the Solara, you better either add an S/C, get a TURBO KIT (oh yeah... that's not even an OPTION on the gen 2, DOH...) or SHELL OUT A HUGE amount of cash to spice up your ride! Otherwise... you can BUY another car, be SATISFIED with the performance you've got (nothing wrong with that) or GET THE CP-E for around five-hundred bucks and be VERY HAPPY with the gains you get, or put some alternate product on for which I cannot speak either way.

You're welcome.

I have had stock, stock with K&N filter, Ebay intake, HKS shortram, HKS CAI and CPE by far CPE was the best and ebay was the worst.

That being said if you want a cheap intake get the OBX intake it is about 70 dollars and every bit as good as injen. Don't get the ebay intake.

thanks guys!!! if i buy an OBX intake i could save $500 bucks and probably use that money on an RSB and some other parts. If i buy an injen intake I think I would still have enough to order an RSB. If I buy a CP-E I will definately be happy with my purchase but in the end i will need more money for other parts. so i guess its jus something to think about...anyone ever posted a video of CP-E sound etc?

This is a ROUGH clip from when I first got it with an iPod taped near the filter under the hood! LOTS of extraneous sounds!

I remember there were several other better clips in here. It sounds great live!

Good argument Crisp.
My issue with the price is that I got a hold of Two Injen intakes for about 20% of the total cost of the Cpe.

If I could find a used CPe at a lower cost that I think is reasonable, I would probably give it a try.

My opinion stands however, that the CPe is not worth the price of a NEW one.

We need someone to compare actual dyno numbers between Injen and CPe to figure out the differences in gains.
I would love to see that.
Trust me, I'm a technician.
