High Flow Cat or Not?

Postby Gibson99 » Tue Sep 08, 2009 7:54 pm

i knew i remembered seeing something like that antifouler mod... i'm gonna have to try that. that'll save me a few bucks at the exhaust shop if it works!

link if you dunno what it is:
http://forums.evolutionm.net/evo-how-re ... light.html

and before anyone asks - almost all o2 sensors are standard m12 threads, so if this pn fits an evo, it should fit ours too.

Well that part number is a M18 and our O2 sensors are also m18 not m12. Also the antifouler mod has been covered and I think there is even a tutorial in the how to section.

Midias...So after doing this mod I could go ahead and remove my cat and no check engine like will come up? How many of you guys are actually driving with this mod installed?

I would like to do this for the extra power gain...
do you think its worth doing?

thanks!

Not sure if it works with no cat. It works great with my thunderbolt cat. Also a cat delete will prob not give much on a near stock solara.

I dono how it is in NY....but in NJ, if ur pulled over and the police has a reason to check ur cat...they carry mirror sticks, and if ur car is found with out a "visual" cat, ur car gets impounded, and there is a hefty fine, upwards in Gs.

So, one way around it is a gutted cat, but that poses the whole air bouncing around the open cat issue....(terbulance).

yeah i guess i will just order a high flow cat to be safe...i should notice power difference with one either way right? i think cops only check for a cat if your exhaust is really loud...has anyone used a TRD exhaust with no cat? is it loud or reasonable sound?

I'm sure you won't be loud enough to worry about if you have a TRD muffler. Even without the rear muffler on at all the car isn't that loud. It sounds cool though.
Trust me, I'm a technician.
