Wheel Spacers

Yes, heres a topic I had thought had been beaten to death on this forum, but a quick search and 7 pages of browsing yielded no positive results.

As a matter of fact... Im so damn tired from work that I didnt search hard either.

So heres a question to those experienced out there.

I am looking to pick up a set of spacers for my solara. My 18x7.5 +38 aint doin it for me anymore, so I was going to purchase a set of 5mm spacers for my front ( pushing +33 offset ) and 10mm spacers for the rear ( pushing +28mm offset )

Seeing recent pics of kenny's car prompted this.
That, and my TSX's wheels are pretty body flush and make my solara's wheels look so horrible and sunken in.

What brand does everyone use?

Tracy,

I am currently using H&R 5mms up front, and Ichiba V1 15mms in back. No complaints about either brand/set. I'm not Kenny-flush by any means, but for being on Toki/fTein/rEibach w/18x8 et+37 wheels, I'm more than happy with the setup.

Also, from my experience, the front track is about 20mm wider (10mm per side) wider than the rear stock. With my current setup, my front and rear tracks are dead even.

Tracy... I wouldn't run spacers up front unless its really needed.. Like if its really sunken in bad.. I think you could push the rear out a little like running a 15mm spacers in the rear making it +23. Being that you are only 7.5" wide you will have no problems. If it were me I would probably push a 25mm spacer to make it nice a flush. On your next set of tires run 215/40 tires rather then 225/40 to give it a better look. remember I am running 225/45 on a 8.5" wide rim.

I only trust H&R and Project Kics spacers since they are hub centric. Kics are little more expensive but again you get what you pay for. Plus I've had experience with both brands.

I've heard good things about Ichiba but I've never used them before so I can't really comment.

My tires are bald, and I had the same idea to run a 215 series to round the sidewall just a bit
So you think 15mm would be fine?

My fronts look like ass too
Ill post pics when my car gets back so u can be the judge.

I have ichiba 15mm in the rears with extended studs and they are doing fine with no problems. They fit snug on the hub and so do my wheels.

I dont remeber if you modded your fenders or not...

but this is what i did with the wheel offset calculator comparing ur rear and my rear

My rears are 8.5 +35 and i have shaved fender. No rubbing. So in comparison with mine u can be 7.5 +22.

Tire size should be 215/45/18 just to balance it off a bit.

3 sets of H&R Trak+'s here with no complaints. For anyone interested, I'll have a 10mm set with brand new lugs up for sale in a week. The spacers were used for less than 4k.

Personally I am not a fan of 5's because I don't feel there is enough hub sticking out and have had weird vibration issues with them. I will now only run spacers with a hub machined into them.

I saw ichiba makes 5s with extended studs ( version 1 )
Would this help solve that problem?

I have ichibas with the studs I did not feel they left enough of the hub sticking out after the spacer to correctly align the wheels. I went to 15mm spacers with a built in hub and now the vibration is gone.

If anyone wants them I have a set of ichiba 5mm spacers no studs for $20 shipped in the lower 48

Yo, just for reference I run is300 wheels and only need spacers in the rear. I use H&R hubcentrics +25mm spacer. It comes with its own extended studs.

Offset of the IS300 wheel are +50 is that helps. +45 is stock for the camry. I also have cut/rolled rear fenders.

For H&R, all of the spacers size 10mm and above have the center lip that helps keep the wheel centered on the hub as pictured below. The 5's don't have one and rely on the actual wheel hub to keep the wheel centered. Since they reduce that bore down 5mm, there's not much for the wheel to hang on to. That's probably why midas got some vibration, even though I didn't experience that with my 5's.

The wheels I am using also have a chamfered lip where the hub meets the wheel and I don't think I had enough penetration.

I prefer the factory fitment 16x6 with +45 offset. The are inset about 2 inches from the fender. It looks best in my opinion. And with stock suspension, I never rub believe it or not.
Trust me, I'm a technician.
