Gen1 Side Marker Mod?

Gen1 Side Marker Mod?

Postby DSM_Lara » Sat Nov 20, 2010 12:03 am

I always wanted a side marker signal light for some reason. IDK maybe it's a JDM thing (yes I know our cars are not JDM). I'm always trying to do something different and be unique. Something that you don't see on Solara's. Here's a sample of what I'm thinking. Either a BMW Marker that fits into our molding or keeping the molding and putting a amber marker that lines up with our upper fender wheel line. I may not do this will see...it's only in my mind. Here's a sample ignore the ricey bumper/fenders. :honda:

How about instead some LED turn signals on the exterior side mirrors?

I found some aftermarket mirrors on eBay for the Gen 4 Camry that have White, Amber, and Blue LEDs in them. I painted them and then wired them up to my car. I made a switch board with two rotary switches that I use to be able to quickly change between the colors for the parking light function and turn signal function.

No one else think this is a cool mod??? I know they are some international cars here that have them. Anyone that has done this please input on this topic.

X2 whose car is that? It got me re-thinking about the black housing headlights and corner. OEM looks clean.

if it can be done flush and right (which judging by ur taste and "ocd" you'll do) i think it'll look sharp and give it a slightly different look from stock without going over the top. personally i say if u can make it right, do it. im not a fan of the kind where u like glue on the fender tho, id say the ricer had the right idea but failed on the attempt, along with everything else lol
are avalons supposed to be this fast?

Did you drop your car yet???

Do that first, then this. Go with something like the M3 LED side markers, but of course without the M3 emblem, and mold it into the trim to make it flush and it will look super clean, especially with your LED fogs.

^^^lol... true that... Unfortunately something always comes up... I'm planning on moving to Oahu later this year. After I get my car shipped and everything then I'll drop it there. It's not fun having a drop car and loading it onto a ship. Plus I have to save again to get ready for the move and it's not cheap... It will be great because while I was there during my winter vacation I saw 2 Black TRD Solara just like mines and alot other if you know what I mean.

Anyways back to the side marker topic... It will require drilling into the actually fender so will see how that goes. As far for style I need something that's real simple and not to ricey.
