Talk about aftermarket Toyota Solara Gen 1-1.5 upgrades.

What's Next???

Would everyone just relax. He's gotta be some kid with his first car and doesn't know what he's doing. Maybe he paid for the intake he has and can't afford to get a new one. It happens. I'm sure he's just proud of what he's done and you guys are bashing him. He's not starting trouble or hating on anyone, just making dumb choices. That's something he'll have to find out on his own.

If he's not some young kid with his first car and experimenting with car stuff...then shame on him :drinking:

I understand people are frustrated with this guy, but come on, I look back at pictures like this and think "What was I thinking? Stupid mistakes, but I was experimenting with stuff. And with Solaraguy members' advice, I made some excellent changes, awar from this:"

The Tail lights, the stock rims with stock suspension and chrome trim and half a tint job. Looks ridiculous now, but at the time i was proud cuz it was my baby and my first time doing car stuff.

^ i agree, I know it is frustrating, but people are never given a chance on SG if they dont have all of the answers right off of the bat. We were all new once and were unsure of forum etiquette, if no one helps the new people then our community will never grow. Even I got treated like crap when I first got my solara by some people, until I started to build it up.

To be completely honest, to the new person starting out- that intake isnt going to hurt a damn thing, i have an ebay short ram on my gen 3 camry right now from when I modded it (its my beater now) and it hasnt hurt anything after thousands of miles. The solara's ecu is smart, it isnt going to blow up your car. The gains from the cpe are nice for an NA motor, but lets be realistic here- it isnt blistering speed guys. It really isnt going to be a huge difference, its just a higher quality project.

I will pm him and offer to help him, maybe that will help everyone else and cut down on the threads and annoyance. Besides, hes local to me anyway...

^ I agree. When Happy Aggie told me about this sight before I joined he warned me that people aren't very friendly to newbies on this sight. Thats really not a good image for this site. But on the other hand in most cases I find that most of the forums Ive joined are that way. I will say that the camaro forums I was on when I had one the people were nice unless you had a mustang lol.

[color=darkred]That was one of the reasons for my "sabbatical" from SG for a while. Remember "Shoe?" He was a pain in the ass and I even found myself beatin him up, before I realized that's not what this site is about. Now that I'm back, this stuff comes up and it already makes me want to leave again.

Anyway, enough of that thread jacking.

I'd save up to lower it, then do rims next.

I hope and think i've been pretty patient. But his sig is What's Next??? lmao. Ok we have already tried to help him with the simple stuff after he asked for advice.

Get rid of the fart cannon, they make you lose torque and sound terrible. If you like it, then keep it and don't ask what exhausts are good anymore, we've already told you.

Since he doesnt have money right now he should just lsave for some good mods. That is my advice.

In a sense I can agree with everyone to a point that d4008's posts are a little annoying, probably only by the way he words it and/or how we interpret what he's trying to say. but in either case most or just at least some of us have gone through the phase of not knowing how to mod a car in our own rights.

Everyone knows, when I first joined to boards, my car was rice. pure rice. remember the no fear stickers? the Type R racing sticker?? .. yepp.. true we all have personal tastes and we can't flame people for that, but we can give them our own opinions of what is nice and what is rice.

D4008- you're a college student? so am I and a few others. I have 3 jobs at the moment and still go to school. I save up every little penny I have for my solara. It's changed a lot since I've joined SolaraGuy.
Keep in mind if you get mad at some of us for lecturing you or giving you beef on the things you say or do, it may be because like Akora said, (or at least in my opinion), rather see a bone stock car than a modded car done up wrong.

Take the advice from people here on the forums if you want. I at first didnt' listen but I took a step back and realized these people have tried exactly what I used to do, and what you are doing now. They only want to help you. I'm sure they wont waste their time to try and make your car look bad (minus the occasional photoshop :D har har har..) so I'd look into it, but again it's just up to you.

That's why a lot of people say SEARCH, because instead of asking the same questions over and over and oever again, and instead of having so many members having to repeat themselves with the SAME answers over and over again, the answers MIGHT already be somewhere in this forum. So it's also just a fact of asking redundant questions.

Whether if this is your first car or not... Some people may try to be ignorant, some may just want to be an ass to you for whatever reason, but im sure most of the people here just want to help you out. I'm sure we'd rather have our Solara images viewed as a very nice luxury (any possibly sporty?) car instead of one that is rice (if done up wrong)..

I'm rambing, but yeah.. time to get back to work..

D4008,
If you want a good laugh  ...just read some early posts by the "now SG gods."
You won't feel so uninformed. Trust me!!
You just need to learn to search for your answers.
You can learn alot, and not get so bashed.
Got Boost?? :sweet:

He might be using the other forum colors, which would mean the red would show up just fine. If you can't read it, just click the quote button and read it in white.

Do some research. If you ask for opinions, listen to them and don't keep arguing... you WILL get flamed!

I don't think this thread needs to keep going on and on and on....
