Hi Everyone!

What a nice group you have here. I've been lurking a bit, getting information before I got my new-to-me 2005 white Solara SE yesterday. It's Toyota Certified and has 62K miles on her. I wasn't crazy about the high mileage, but the Certified Pre-Owned gives me a little peace of mind with that.

I named her "Pearly Shells." Shelly for short. Yes, I'm one of those who names their cars. :)

I got Shelly because my 2001 Honda Accord - was totaled last month when someone with "the sun in their eyes" rear-ended me at a stop light. His name was "Gold Experience." After mourning, I had to start shopping. I was going back and forth between the Accord Coupes and the Solaras. I come from a Honda family - Accords, Acuras, etc. I succumbed to the dark side after being tempted by the Solara's beautiful, sleek design. Even my mom the die-hard Accord fan raved about how beautiful it was and its condition. Not a scratch or dent.

I love her interior. Cloth. Leather is pretty, but gets way too hot for me in the summer. Been there, done that. I also love that she's a V4. Great on gas. Mainly, I'll be commuting with her. 12 miles each way. I really don't need the power.

Needless to say, I'm in love. Shelly is so pretty. She's sporty without being a sports car.

Anyway, I look forward to reading more posts and learning a lot from you all.

Be well, and Happy New Year, Everyone! :bday:

Welcome, enjoy the research.

I too, come from a family of Honda's and also decided between the solara and a coupe accord. You won't be dissapointed.

the solara seems to be a gateway car for honda owners.

welcome to the toyota solara fam. we're much more fun than accord drivers

*pssst* btw the guys are poking fun at you about the "V4"....which is really an I4. just thought you should know. :-) V4's rarely (if ever) come on cars, but occassionally come on bikes.

Yea I chose the solara over the accord because when I got it the 03 accords with a 6mt and v6 were just coming out and I could not afford one. Now I want to go back to honda and get a new accord 6mt V6 coupe.

Welcome......I got the inline 6 (haha, just kiddin' :P ). Ex-Honda owner or not, NOBODY deserves to get their car rear-ended like that by a person who's too cheap to go to the dollar store and buy sunglasses. I always thought that "sun-in-my-eye" excuse only worked for the NY Yankee's outfielders.

Aw thanks for the warm welcome, everyone. Cool group.

Haha thank you for the information. I'm definitely a car novice and really just into the "pretty."

And she is the prettiest car I've ever driven. I really do think Solaras are a gateway drug. I mean car.
