Whats the BEST OIL FILTER!!!!!!!

Whats the BEST OIL FILTER!!!!!!!

Postby rewmomi » Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:02 am

Okay guys I have been doing my research and honestly do not know who to believe anymore I have been researching different studies for about a week. I use k&n oil filter with eneos 5w-30. Now I hear k&n is a knock of mobile one, and all these articles are like the surface area of this one is larger and the psi rating of this one is 20 and this one is 200 and other things. One say that Baldwin is the best choice for oil filter while others say purlotor and now I am just asking for ur input on this. I a know the filter depends on what oil ur using and I am using the best out there at least that I know of. I am looking for a well constructed, well sealed synthetic fiber using oil filter with a pressure valve that can handle aggressive driving occasionally and I am not worried about price. Thanks

when i worked at advance autoparts we actually had a "class" on this. mobil 1 is the best, followed by purolotor. the k&n oil filters were actually nothing to write home about. you're just paying for the name brand.

i'm not familiar with baldwin. i usually use the purolator pure one on my car and have never had a problem (fuel filter is a different story). used the mobil1 a time or two as well and it was fine.

I use Purolator PureOne. Best bang for the buck from what I've heard! Never had problems.

Like bchad200 said, it's all in the name. Most important on a filter, even more than the seal type, is the valve that keeps oil from draining back to the pan. The funny thing about oil is the Royal Purple guy told us to use just either Wix or NAPA Gold, cuz they're the same. He said also that if you're paying more for it, it's usually better, and that you should check to see how many ppm's it filters.

I love my Wix. In all the test's I've read, they are always up there and are much cheaper.

I only use the Toyota OEM oil filter on my Solara, never tried other brands, that worked well for me.

My dad uses Purolater oil filter on his Camry, not much difference from the OEM he said.
