recharging ac

Okay, so my ac stopped blowing cold air in the fall and I think its just out of refrigerant- the light comes on and everything and I havent seen any leaks, used to work just fine when i got the car, so my guess is it needs more. I tried to fill it fom the low pressure port near the supercharger pulley, but I cant get it to take any in. Are there different fittings/hoses for different makes? it seems like thats where the issue is... just wondered if anyone knew, I can post pics of what I have tonight. thanks in advance!

(midias, Im counting on you, haha)

Might be a crazy question but when you tried to fill it was the engine running and the AC on full blast?

There should only be one fitting all you do is attach the can then screw down the valve on top and puncture the top of the can then back off the valve on top until the R134A starts to flow and hold the can upside down.

Just to double check this port right?

yep that port with the a/c on full and the car running- I actually got all that info from another thread you helped out in, which i really appreciate. I did those steps and punctured the can, but I cant hear it leaving the can and it doesnt seem to be. If I start to unscrew the puncture cap with the can and hose off of the car, i can hear it coming out. But when its attached to the line I dont hear it coming out and it doesnt leave the can, which made me think the fitting might be incorrect. Wasnt sure if it was a standard thing or not... its also a big pain to get in there with the supercharger in the way, but I got the fitting on as far as it can go...

I had problems doing mine before too...the fittings are tougher on our cars it seems, since it only works when it's on perfectly flat

but the other thing that you may have forgotten though, is that technically, if you are entirely out of refrigerant, the compressor won't run at all to prevent damaging itself.

so you are supposed to jump the terminals so that the compressor will come on and suck the refrigerant in...

but by the same token, I've heard of people doing it without junmping the compressor
