A/C Condenser

Just found out I have a hole in mine, only on the hottest week of the year naturally, and wondered had anyone replaced theirs? How easy/hard is it? Any information would be helpful.

Thanks!

about a year ago my condensor was good, but my dryer went bad.

i would assume it's fairly easy since my home-call mechanic was able to change it out in front of my house, and then recharge it. the dryer (and the bubble on the top of the condensor) were both replaced, which means he had to take out the entire condenser assembly to perform the repair.

the part is going to be expensive (>200$ probably), but a car without a/c is just 4 wheels, a stereo, and an engine. i'd check a scrap yard first....or if you want to make sure it'll last, then just get a new part.

i would say to get a chilton or haynes manual, and you should be able to do it yourself. if not, then find a reputable AC shop to do the repair.

GL and stay cool

I did it 2 years ago on my wifes 98 camry no prob. I just searched ebay until I got a good deal on one for about 100 dollars then replaced it in about 2 hrs no sweat. I think autoparts stores wanted about 200 for them and we were on a tight budget.

Just buy new and replace all the O rings while you are in there. A universal metric kit should have everything you need. I think I used the harbor freight one to great success.
