Hello again my friends, been a while since I have been here but I am back seeking an answer to a relativily easy question.

My system works but the cold air slowly stoped being cold, so I went to autozone with my problem and they told me to purchase this freon boost kit with a gauge attached to it. So I did but i'm not positive where I should hook it up too.

I think I should do it here Image

but my dad thinks it should go somewhere here Image

he is a stubborn man so I'm here to prove him wrong (I hope :) )

Oh and while I was looking around I noticed this Image just kind of laying there by my first picture. Whats that about...

Autozone is like 20 min away so I didn't want to drive back and ask. Thanks for your help.

I think it needs to go to the low pressure side. Your dad is on the right track, but I think that is the high pressure side of the AC system. It should be in the instructions with the kit.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

the low pressure side is near the passenger's side firewall...the one that you're looking at is the high pressure side if I remember correctly

Sometimes the caps will be marked with a L for low or H for high. Also they sometimes use color caps blue for low and red for high.

^^ what he said, its pretty easy...just buy a kit that has a built in guage or the PSI. Then on a HOT AFTERNOON, park your car outside for a while and turn on the a/c on full and fill away on the low side. I've done it once on my camry in 11 years and never on my 'lara.

Being a closed system, it shouldn't leak. If you have the same problem again (ever) I'd spring for the $$ to get a pro to leak check the system and fix whatever seal is bad.

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead because it has happened again. It actually happened last year but i'm just now getting around to trying to fix it again.

So I tried to fill it up again thinking that it had just run out of refrigerant again but I couldn't get it to fill, this was last year.

I took it to Firestone yesterday and had it "inspected" and they said the gauges and the compressor were good but to do a dye leak test would cost 200 dollars. I said eh screw you and complained until I got the half ass inspection for free haha. So now I'm going to a friends house to have him look at it but if anyone has any input it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

well, you have a leak somewhere obviously, most leaks are cause by evaporator or the seals in the lines. If you have a leak detector or put a dye in it and buy a black light. Good luck some leaks are a PAIN the the A$$ to find!

yea my car leaks that stuff too, i bought a recharge kit with dye in it from advance auto and now not only does my ac blow cold again (for now) but i have found the leak myself as i can see where the dye is coming out. i will still have to have a pro fix the leak and vacuum the system down and charge it properly, but atleast im going in knowing where the leak is and can tell the guy exactly what i want done and maybe he'll see im not car illiterate and not try to rip me off.
