un der No circumstance will your rates go up, you were 100% not At fault therefore it falls on the other company and other drivers responsability and finacial obligation.. you have witnesses and the information from the police report right ?? use it or loose it.

Sorry to hear about your car.

I think silver solaras are cursed just because its probably the most popular color people bought in solaras. Seems like half of you have them in that color.

thanks for all the support. well here is what happened, insurance from the other company gave me 1260 for the cost of repairing the panel. i talked to my bodyshop and based on the pics he said it will need to be replaced, so as soon as he gets the car in, he will ask for a supplement from them for the cost of replacing the panel. i will be out of my car for about 10 days, and they will provide me with a rental.

as far as depreciation, i was offered 200, but i called my own ins. company and filed a claim with them, so tomorrow the adjuster should call me and see if we can negotiate more out of them.

so i guess as far as the repair goes, it wont really cost me anything and ill get a new panel. and for depreciation, i get what i get. at least nothing mechanical was damaged and the car is driving a-ok for the time being. i did squeeze a free alignment out of them tho.

does anyone have an opinion on a 'toyota certified collision center'. the dealership i took it to is certified, so am i guaranteed the work will be done properly and the paint will match, or is there still a chance it might not be ok. i wanted to take it back to the same shop i had in atlanta, but its too far for me now and i would have to make two separate 5 hours roundtrips to drop it off and pick it up... price is not a factor b/c of insurance.

what would you do?

A couple things on that...

1) Hopefully you didn't sign any release when they cut you a check. That way you can still get them to cover the rest when the bill is higher.

2) Just because a body shop is associated with a dealershit, DON'T ASSUME the work will be done right!!

When my fiance's Camry (also silver) had a similar experience last year, the body shop (who actually had an office in the parts dept at the dealer) totally tried to screw her over with the job they did on paint. Luckily I knew what to look for and made them repaint the entire back and sides all over again and buff out the rest of the car before I would sign off on it. It took us three times before we accepted the work!

If you have an option to do so, I would do the 5 hour R/T to the place you know and trust instead of 3-4 shorter trips that end up keeping your car for a month! :up:

i didnt sign a release for the check so if the shop finds extra damage the ins. will pay to fix it.

I would get the manager on the phone. When I went to the dealer my body work was perfect.
