Stock talk about the Generation 1 and 1.5 Toyota Solara which were produced from 1999 to 2003.

My (mostly stock) 1999 SLE has always been the best car out of all my friends... but my new roommate won a '99 pontiac grand prix GTX at his post prom party. I'm pretty sure he would beat me in a straight line, but is there anything I can brag about against his car? He has black on black with leather and ram air scoops... its real nice, and I hate feeling inferior.

Sounds like you need a TRD supercharger or a 5 speed that way you could rag on him for being a woman and driving auto.

You mean a GTP? Yeah, a TRD supercharger would help you keep up, but it doesn't take much to get even more power out of those cars. You could make fun of his Play Skool-plastic interior :-P

GTX is a special edition of the GTP. It has the ram air scoops and some other bells and whistles... So far i got
~He can't take corners
~He needs premium fuel
~He can't touch toyota's reliability (knock on wood)
~He gets 12 MPG
~He won his car, i worked my ass off at minimum wage for years for mine.

I would love a TRD supercharger but I'm going into college so i dont exactly have a spare 2k laying around haha

are you sure he's s/ced? My friend has the same car, 99 black grand prix gtx ram air and all the fun stuff, but hes not s/ced haha. So all day he keeps complaining how crappy it is. IMO, their exhausts sound like crap. Their build isn't that great, are the ram air hood scoops even functional? Did you race him yet? You may be able to beat or keep up w/ him if it is s/ced and poorly cared for.

toyota ftw =]

Hmm i thought they were all supercharged. It would be great if it turned out his wasn't. I won't see him til the fall but i'll be sure to check under the hood for a functioning ram air system and S/C.

http://www.grandprix.net/limited/ i did a quick google search and this came up.

What do you get when you add ram air induction to an already power-ridden Grand Prix? SLP's GTX, that's what. The basic package includes ram air induction, special GTX badging to replace your standard badging, and custom GTX key fobs. Ram air adds approximately 10 horsepower to your Grand Prix, be it an SE, GT, or GTP. Other items available include a full stainless steel cat-back exhaust system, sunroof, synthetic fluids package, and more.

So there ya go. This "gtx" may just be a regular se or gt with some extra crap on it, or possibly the real deal.

"minig646" - you got some of the things right.

Just save up for a 3MZ hybrid motor, then your car will be better than his.

You can also add that your car is smaller than his.

I knew a guy who bought a GTX new, and it rattled from day one. He ended up trading it in b/c it was such a piece of crap. You can brag that your car is not a Pontiac...enough said.
