So like, the other day, i had to go to Rite Aid to pick up a medication for my mother. When i got there, i turned off the car, well i didnt actually, but i did pull the key out. I was like. hmm interesting. the key was out. the car was making some weird noise and still shaking. so i put the key bak in. i turned on the car again and drove around hoping it would stop. so i drove around the parking lot. den i parked the car. and i turned it off. it still would not turn off. so i ran in the store real quick to grab the medication, and i came bak, my hood was smoking!!!! :( i popped open the hood. saw massive amount of smokes coming from my starter. my car was dead at rite aid. i also noticed my negative wires were burnt as well. but den i called my uncle. he came and helped me out. i had to buy a new starter about 200 dollars. hurt =[ . plus the negative wire. but after that was fixed. now. some of my lightings have been damaged. i havent checked the fused yet but its weird. usually when the car is off. i can turn both headlight on. now when the car is dead. only the left headlight works. i have to turn on the car to get both headlights to work. do anyone know the problem? LOL!? my solara is rawr!!!!!

i dont know. haha. well my hid. i did do some wiring so that the foglight will stay on with the current hid. becuz that hid i bought wasnt hooked up to fog lights. i believe it was the highbeam plug. so i wired it so the foglight had power. now i was able to turn on the foglight with the hid. but. since that day. i dont know. lol. i havent checked the fuses yet. i dont know where to check. =[

I would start at your fog lights and check the wire for damage due to over heating I would guess some insulation melted due to excessive wattage and caused a major short.

my brother took off the foglight wires. so now i'll be driving without foglight for awhile. but when the car is off. sometimes 1 headlight wont turn on. lol. its either 1 or the other. i have to turn on the car for both to work. now how can we solve this?

Seems like your starter solenoid was being engaged when the car was running, and it eventually burned the starter out. I can't explain the negative terminal though.

reminds me of a cavalier we had in the shop in school once you would take the key out and the starter would keep on cranking it over
