Oxygen Sensors...O.E. or Universal?

Postby Kahlua Mandingo » Mon Feb 09, 2009 1:14 pm

 <-----AGGRIVATED Is there a difference in the O.E. oxygen sensor and the universal other than the fact that the end on the universal is not attached? Also does anyone have any suggestions for an inexpensive fix for this. I changed the plugs in our 2001 V6 and the first set of plugs made the car chug unmercifully. I took thos back and was given another set that ran smooth as silk and now is starting to do that chug type thing. Chug=when ideling the car sounds like it wants to stall. Is this because I am not using double ground plugs even though I was told that it would run fine without it...or is it the oxygen sensor like the computer told me? I know this is a lotof info I am asking about but as always I appreciate the help from the SOLARA community. P.S. I saw the veneza or whatever that car is that is taking our coveted spot and I am ashamed to say...I kinda like it...although it will never be a SOLEE. KEN

So what kind of plugs are you using?

Also universal sensors are fine just do a good job soldering the wires and use good quality heatshrink over the connection.

For V6, I thought we needed the dual platinum electrode plugs since the ignition is the "waste" type. Plug fires twice for every cycle. Without the dual electrode, plug only lasts half of what it should?
