I've always used Redline MT-90 in my other manual tranny cars. What's the recommended synthetic for my 99 v6 5sp? Thx!

Ooops, I shoulda clarified... I kno what grade to get, I just wondered if there's certain brand that's better. I was deciding between:

Mobil 1
Redline
Amsoil

As for the difference, it was 45degrees yesterday morn when I got into my car to goto work. The shifter wouldn't go into gear easily. Work is 12 minutes away, and when I got there, the shifter was fine. I have regular fluid in there, and I wanted to switch over to synth for easier cold mornings, and hopefully better protection for my short commute. Redline made a huge diff in my other cars that require GL-4, but Solara manual says GL-5, was wondering if there's something better yet affordable.

I recently put in Redline MT-90 and it drives great at initial start-up, but it's hard to shift once the tranny reaches temperature. I'm probably going to drain it and put in the GL-5 75W-90.

highly recommended as well is GM synchromesh

lots of people who have ever had grinds in their transmissions have been able to solve their problems with synchromesh

I'm personally going to try it in the near future now that I finally pulled out my tranny and got all the seals replaced so that I don't leak differential fluid anymore...leaking synchromesh would be like dripping gold haha

^My only problem with GM/Penzoil Synchromesh is that it isn't synthetic. However, I'm sure it's fine if you change your MTF regularly.

Anyone ever try BG Synchroshift II? I know the DSM guys seem to love it, but I don't want to drop another chunk of money on expensive MTF that shifts like crap...

Don't waste your money like I did. I tried it hoping to fix the cold morning notchy shifting. I dumped the Maxgear and replaced it with Redine MT-90 and shifting has been greatly improved.
