Problem with Idle?

Problem with Idle?

Postby PapaDukes027 » Tue Aug 26, 2008 1:40 pm

Ok so heres the problem, the solara isnt hitting like it should. When i'm accelerating from a stop i need to press down on the gas very hard to get the car to take off well. I recently got an oil change and changed the trany oil as well. While the car is idle the RPM arent right....

Image

Its running lower than 1000. If im not mistaken...there is a way to fix the idle myself without taking it into a shop??? I believe the idle is somewhere near here....

Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks guys.

Adjust the idle screw, its an allen screw and a 8mm nut, to about 750 to 800 rpm. If your idle still act weird then there something wrong.

The plate that holds the throttle cable has two 10mm bolts just to the left of it is the idle screw

First why is your check engine light on?

Second try cleaning your throttle body and all the little ports in it and pulling the battery cable to reset the computer on the car.

Finally here is the idle screw there is also one on the other side you can probably get away with just using one but I would make both even.

Personally I would do the idle screw last after fixing the CEL, cleaning the TB and resetting the ECU.

I've never adjusted the idle screw on the other side of the throttle body.
