Common Solara Quirks?

Common Solara Quirks?

Postby jhall229 » Thu Jan 15, 2009 11:06 am

I just wanted to get some opinions about what I believe to be somewhat common characteristics of solaras.

1. Slightly rough shifting with low RPMs. I mainly notice this when coming to a stop sign, and sometimes it is worse then others. Its not too bad but in stop and go traffic it annoys me. Is this problem somewhat common? I know my tranny fluid is fine, although I plan on changing it in the near future.

2. Throttle lag while at crusing speeds. Example: You are crusing at about 40-55 mph and you let off the gas. Then there is s second or so delay before the RPMs drop, and then they jump back up. Someone told me in another post that this is the TPS voltage dropping too fast instead of gradually dropping? Is this something that most people experience with these solaras? If so, is there a solution to this problem?

I just wanted to get some thoughts on these issues so I will know whether to take care of them or not before I purchase some aftermarket parts.

Thanks

Don't know if it's my 'Lara, but when I try to punch it or "drive fast" it looks at me like......"gimme a sec". lol

Maybe it's the sluggish transmission. RPMs go high, intake/exhaust makes cool noise, and the car goes absolutely nowhere...loudly.

Oh sorry. In my orginal post I mentioned that I had an SLE, but I guess it timed out while I was working and I had to rewrite it and forgot to say it's and SLE.

I never feel any sluggishness when I get on the gas. The torque usually kicks in quite nicely.

I'm not sure this applies to my 2001, but I wonder if my problem could have something to do with the throttle cable being too lose or too tight.

When's the next meet? Spring? I just switched my wheels back to stock, the 19s suck in the snow and ice.
