Anywhere between 600 and 800 rpm is just fine. If the idle is rough start by taking off the throttle body and cleaning it especially the passageway to the idle air control. My wifes Camry had a problem when it would idle too low and there was little to no fast idle when cold, just spraying the throttle body did nothing and adjusting the screw only worked until the computer corrected the idle. The fix was to remove the throttle body and really clean out the IAC module.

Be careful adjusting the idle screw. I had to adjust mine once and (I'm not quite sure how) the screw managed to loosen itself while I was driving...

...Trying to get out of rush hour bumper-to-bumper traffic while that car is idling at roughly 50% WOT is not fun at all.

Needless to say, I needed new brake pads after that drive

Yeah, now, instead of the screw, I have a bolt that I cut to the proper length - that way I know it won't slide down.

Uh...if one of your air sensors needs to be replaced and you have a drivability problem (the slow takoff and weird idle) then you shouldn't be playing around with idle adjustments before replacing that. The sensor should be first.
Any time you have a check engine light and the car drives funny, no matter what, fix the check engine light problem. Then work from there.
