I thought I would share my success. I just replaced my old hood struts. They had not failed completely but they were getting weak and I decided not to chance it. I used Stabilus (http://www.stabilus.com) Lift-O-Mat Hoot struts part number sg329007. The fit was great the directions were good and the install was only about 20 minutes. Best of all they were only about $35 for the pair off ebay.
