Spun off road........needing charcoal canister

Spun off road........needing charcoal canister

Postby rewmomi » Wed Nov 14, 2007 8:37 am

So I was driving on adelphi yesterday. Slick roads and all but i did not have to worry about that since i just got four new tires. So Im driving at about 30 and the speed limit is about 40 and people were flying past me so as soon as i accelerate i swerve down the wet pavement and spin out in to the grassy margin. Then i check my car and i find mud everywhere even rocks and grass wedged into my tires in between the rim. Now my trac control was off because of my stupid check engine light caused by my charcoal canister. HELP!!!!

Reset the codes , and see if it comes back. Unless a rock punctured you charcoal canister , that shouldnt be the problem. before i totaled my solara i had that code for 2 years and it would appear randomly. also the charcoal canister code has to come with other codes. if im correct, you should have more then one code. Also there not a cheap part..

At the dealer to fix the charcoal canister it would cost about $450. It did come with other codes and I fixed the other things, it is just the canister i have a problem with now u know. And i had this problem for abou t 2 months but have no money. but since it turned my trac control off i blame what happened to that.

I had the charcoal canister code come on in my car. I bought a brand new charcoal canister and it ended up being the gas cap not screwed on tightly. I would check that first and if you are a do it your-selfer I got a brand new charcoal canister I will sell you for $200. I believe the dealership sells it for $320. Let me know.

WTH?? I got my charcoal canister from Toyota dealership here in Ontario for $140 (brand new). Paid $50 to get it installed (took about 25 minutes).

Must have been the sensor on top the. To replace the canister you need to have many rear suspension components dropped to get things out of the way.

^^ You're right. It was just the sensor.
