I know slingshot posted something similar in the past, but this is just an advise. http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=5862

I got the platinum warranty (7 yrs or 75,000 miles) with $0 deductible. A friend of mine works in Finance for another dealership gave me a good advice before I signed the papers. He told me to negotiate the extended warranty. I ended up paying only $700. I never knew you could do that... Thanks to him, I saved about $500-700 bucks. In return, I'm sending people his way, if they want to buy a car.

This is only for those who plan on keeping the car for awhile.

Damn good price Michael. You're a better negotiator on that extended warranty than I was. But at least I got my car for invoice. Your warranty price is a steal!

The extended warranties are half of of what Toyota dealers charge and sometimes they can be less. My wife worked for a Toyota Dealership in Austin, TX and she seen where people were getting screwed on the extend warranty when she entered the paperwrok information.

That's a great price. What I hate is 99% of the time you never use it, especially within the time limit. I wish they would take the years off and just go by mileage. Now that would be sweet. I had to pay $850 for 6yr/100,000mi, including LOJACK. I've got just over 1 year left, we'll see how Toyota quality holds up.

I feel ya on that...99% of the time you don't use it and then once the warranty runs out, then problems occurs. This is my first brand new Toyota, I had a '93 Camry V6 and it was still running great when I got rid of it, 180,000 miles and counting...that's something.

Let me tell you from experience, extended warranties are a God-send. I had a used 3000GT with no warranty and went through two transmissions. Now that I bought a new Solara, I felt it a must to get he extended warranty so I wouldn't go through that huge hit again. Cars usually start breaking down after the initial warranty. Since I only paid 675 for the 6 yr./ 75,000 mile warranty, one occurance could pay for itself easily! Come on, you guys know how much parts are for Japenese cars.

I know exactly what you mean...we haven't really used the warranty on my solara and camry. But you bet your as$ that the warranty was a life saver on our ES (tranny died...6 o2 sensors died, other weird problems) cost of total repairs to date 5grand. Total cost of warranty 1200, we're happy campers...

Buying an extended warranty is like buying life insurance.

It’s best if you never use it.

The dealer price for The Platinum Warranty for 7 years 100,000 miles zero deductible is about $1400. How are you getting this for a few hundred? The lowest price on Toyota web is over $800.
