Alpine Type R 6.5' in rear deck?

I have 6.5' Alpine Type R coaxials I am putting in the rear deck 6x9' location. I know these have a high sitting tweeter so I was wondering if anyone has put these in a 99 Solara SLE? Also, if they had to refab the speaker grills to fit them. Thanks!

Coaxials should be fine UNLESS the tweeter sticks out ridiculously... if it sticks out up to about 1/2 inch I think it'd be ok.

Type R's should not hit the cover. I do suggest when making the baffle though, bottom mount it, and cut out the hole to fit the surround. this will give you an extra 1/4" to a half 1/2" depending on what size abs plastic or MDF is used. excellent choice in speaker by the way, great tonal ballance for a rear
If it doesn't kill you.....it only makes you faster!
