6-1/2's in 6x9 location?

I was wondering if anyone has tried to fit 6-1/2's in the 6x9 rear deck? I've got a pair of Alpine Type R's that I wanna fit in there. Left over from my old car and I hate 6x9's with a passion. Don't wanna start any 6x9 v.s. 6-1/2 debates though. Also, is anybody looking for the front/rear speakers and amp from a stock premium JBL system?

they have 6x9 "plates" so you can put in 6.5s. I have 6.5s in the rear w/ tweeters

u just need to make a plate to get a solid baffle so you can get some mid-bass out of them. Im glad to hear that you dont like the uneven sound of a 6x9. =0) Music sounds better out of a round speaker =0)

Bah. You can get away without baffles. Just use a spacer and some self-tapping screws. Honestly, no one will ever see it, and it won't make a lick of difference in performance.

ur kidding right...............

no offense but i have been selling and installing high end audio systems for 7 years now. and if i EVER caught any of my installers doing that, i would shoot them in the foot! =0) Mobile speakers sre designed in a infinte baffle application, if you do not seal the front from the back, you will not have proper frequency response, usually around the 500-600hz range (mid-bass)

Thank you for coming, Have a nice day!
