Can u install Sub and Amp into the solara with out getting a new head unit and using the stock one on the SLE with no nav?

I like the audio pretty much on the jbl solara but it needs some big Bass

Ya, just hook the amp to the battery and don't hook the sub wired to the back of the headunit, just hook them up to the rear speaker, thats what I did and it works great.

Use a line level converter to give signal to the subwoofer amp. Tap off the rear speaker wires for that..

I have a 2004 SE Sport 4 cyl without the JBL system. I'm getting my subs, amps, iPod dock and Sirius tuner installed tomorrow. When it's done, I'll post some pictures. I'm leaving the factory headunit - I think it would look awful if I replaced it, plus I'm hooked on the steering wheel controls.

I saw another guy on here with the same Sirius setup (can't remember his name, but thanks for the great idea!!)

The iPod dock looks to be really sweet. You can control the iPod from your steering wheel controls! It replaces the external changer though, so that may not work for everyone.

http://www.densionusa.com - they're the makers of the dock I bought.

This is an old thread, but:

I got an 05 SLE with JBL no NAVI and i wanna put 2 10"s in the trunk. Anyone got this setup? Were you able to keep the JBL head unit and amp? Did you install it or did you get it done by the "pros"?

Well, if i DID want to keep the head unit, how would i go about adding subs? Do i need one of those line level adapters or what?

yes. line level adapters. check out soundgate or PAC for more info. they are universal, just need to find the speaker outs. I am waiting to put in my 2 tens, didnt use the adapter but decided to rip out the entire system and start from scratch.
Alpine + Dynaudio = Sonic bliss.

I have a 12in infinity in my car and i dont have the jbl system and i still use the factory headunit. Its easy to install. All you have to do is run the cable from the battery to your amp. Buy extra wire so that you can tap into your rear speakers and run those to your amp. And you have to get an Adjustable Output Adapter for that to work. The system doesnt buzz or anything when the car is shut of. Its just like the factory put the system in.
