The computer idea is growing on me switfly.. how well do you guys know under the dash of the solara.. i need a few areas of space that i can throw some parts in to.. and i also am hoping for a little help on how i could power my computer.. the car is a stock 2000 se v6... i dont know any alternator numbers and it has a stock battery.. i was thinking id probably need a second battery wired to the trunk.. but me being me im just taking a shot in the dark on that one - and i also dont know how to wire a second batt to the alt. so it will charge both.. the computer will propably be wired with a 250watt power supply.. the input is 12v to motherboard and 5v to the other crap (prolly 2 hdds and a cdrom drive) one last question.. does anyone known the dimenons of a standard DIN headunit? since its a dual-din i want to do the headunit top and the cdrom drive bottom...

thanks

the pics are killler... i i can probably fit the hard drives behind the screen if i do the same layout as you.. and all i need is a little bit of flat surface to mount a mobo somewhere... i need to check the temps of the DIN behind the dash after the car has been runnin for a while.. if the temps stay below 45-50^C then it should be perfect for the hard drives..

but anyway once i get some cash to get this stuff done i think itll be a success.. ill keep lots of pix.

i was thinkin about the whole 2 way being all u need thing.. if 4 way sounds any better at all than for me it wont be becuase the difference for me is only a few dollars.. the kenwood 3-ways rocked against the pioneer 3-way in the store demo booth thing though so im not exactly positive on what brand for spkrs.. my buddy whos a crazy car man said that i should go for a rockford amp... and didnt really have a suggestion on the subs themselves..

im just gettn pumped waitin for my car

whats the temperature in farenheit? i have a single din headunit mounted on top of a single din opening. in the summer the bottom of my headunit gets pretty hot but not enough to cause problems. i dont know how a computer would do though. how about removing the passenger airbag and mounting the computer in there? then you could put a hinge on the airbag cover to let you access the computer.

since youre getting your stuff from bestbuy, i would do pioneer for a headunit (if you dont do the computer thing), pioneer for door speakers, either pioneer or RF for subs (ive heard the new RF subs are supposed to be an improvement over last years), and RF for amps. dont touch sony or lightning audio. kenwood is alright.
