If you have a '99 with JBL, there may only be one. I have a '99 w/JBL, and there was only one. The amp is built into the JBL headunit, unlike the other years.

If you look in the hole that the radio goes into, to the right, there are two plugs. Those are the two that you would find on the stock stereo, unplug them and then plug the normal Toyota harness that you would find in any stereo store into that, it automatically bypasses the amp. If you want to be thorough, take out the glove box and remove the amp all together, takes about a half hour.

Don't feel like takin it apart...
ASCII drawing :P
They should be right next to each other. In the space where the headunit was, around where the 1 and 2 are in the picture. They are not connected to the stock head unit.

Guy at circuit city says there's only 1 set of plugs that go in the cd player.
Is he right? I have an oem jbl external amplifier.
In the jbl cd player, is the other plug for a cd changer?

There's only one harness coming from the amp that connects to the head unit.

Ok, on the JBL system there is a plug that goes into the back of the stock JBL HU, it goes to an amp, from the amp it goes back to behind the deck into the stock wiring plugs, there are two of them. They were never plugged into the HU, so you might have to dig for them. If you really can't find them, follow their path from the amp.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.
