Thanks Steve...

man...you guys are the best. Why didn't I use these forums a year earlier?

thanks man...I think I'll be fine, so basically...cut the outer part off, then leave the middle metal stick, then saw it 1 inch ABOVE the ring, for like 30 minutes rite?

alrite...that's cool...once I complete it, I'll post some pics

thanks!

God bless

wait wait wait hold up....

so once you take out the OEM shift knob. you will see a medal pole...then you will see another skinny medal pole inside of that and when you cut the outer ring, you just need to make the sknny medal pole longer than the outer medal pole.

:oops:
Hey Steve...

you must think I'm dumb, but for the beauty and safety of my car...I'm gonna have to bother you one more time. :wink:

What I'm gonna is repeat the procedure to you, and you can go ahead and make any corrections, ya? (don't be annoyed by me...)

1. take off the two phillips screws, and take OEM shifter off
2. I'll see TWO medal poles, one inside the other. (I assume they are
the same height)
3. Cut the outer one, so to make the outer medal pole (cross-secion is a
medal ring) ONE INCH SHORTER than the inner skinny pole
4. Now...the inner pole should stick out 1 inch above the outer pole.
5. complete the rest of installation.

is that pretty much on the spot? if so...pad yourself on the back...you've taught a mechanicl idiot how to do a difficult mod...

if NOT...please take the time to give me some more pointers, ya?

thank you SOOO much

God bless

Kevin=)

p.s. yo...one question, the reason we're cutting that outer ring (cross section of outer pole) is to make the whole assembly of the shifter shorter rite? you mentioned something about how people don't cut their poles to make the shifter look nice, is that what you mean...?

by the way...yours is absolutely the best shifer I've seen in a solara, I hate those metal RAZO ones with o/d, it's a solara, not a robot... :lol:

Hello Steve

Kevin here again...

I was reviewing your posts before (on page 1), and I have one more question.

you know how there are 2 poles, one inside another right? so I cut the outer one an inch under the skinny inside one, right?

you said that sawing the INNER SKINNY POLE comes LAST...that means it still needs to be sawed off rite? and then you said something about not sawing the two all at once, or else I'd be screwed... why?

thanks for your time and understanding...

God bless

Kevin=)

kevin...sorry for the confusion, i completed the mod so long ago i forgot how it went but as now i clearly remember.

1. take off the oem shift knob

then you will see a long medal pole and another skinny one inside of that one.

you need to cut the outer one first to your desirable length then you cut the skinny one. But make sure you cut it a little bit longer than the outer one. (because that is the pole that needs to be pushed down to shift gears)

all the best,

Steve :evilbat:
