hi-revving a brand new engine just makes my cringe.

but hey... its your car.

is it a possible reason why RT test brand new cars at WOT during tests because the car is not theirs to keep?

supposedly the cars being sold today already ran through a break-in period. but just to ensure the safety, why not wait another 1k miles?

I've owned now just over 50 cars. If this Toyota goes 225,000 miles instead of 300,000 miles, I doubt I will care. I own my cars at the most 6 months, more if I really dig the car. Unless TRD comes out with a blower for it, and one that will put down some real power, I know this won't tied me over for even 6 months.

The tolarances and quality now days are so far superior to the past. You're not going to have any issues waiting for this magic 1,000 mile mark, believe me.

dang dude... how old are you?

to have 50 cars come and go in your lifetime is a pretty damn big expir. with cars.

actually what do you do for a living?

32, I work in IT Security. I've owned 4 cars at any given time off and on, some $3000 cars, some $40,000 cars. I have a serious problem of getting bored with them, no matter how good they are. My first M3 was probably the best overall car I've ever owned, but my problem is that I just want something else to play with. Even my 402rwhp FRC Vette only lasted me about 4 months. Usually I buy used so I don't take a huge hit. But I'm really trying to settle down a bit which is why I bought the Solara... So far it's not working, even though I love the car. I'm trying to set a goal of 6-months without selling. I hope I can do it!

DAMN... I thought I was the only car freak... I buy a new car every 12-18 months but normally they are just transportation for me... I get my speed from motorcycles which I own 4 of right now... there is nothing like racing bikes at the track.

I know what you mean about getting bored with cars because the last 5 cars I have owned have been sold because I could not tweak them anymore.Funny thing is I am 32 also :drinking:

you do more damage when you first start your car than high revving a new engine...

BTW car makers tell you to baby the engine just in case they screwed somthing up in the initial build and this way you dont damage more than they screwed up... I say flog it hard from day one and see how it was built...if it breaks they will fix it anyway
